profitable day
« on: February 11, 2014, 02:29:20 PM »
Got the wife's oil changed, just over a 1000 miles in 5 month on the car, she is having health issues.  Then we got SS started for the both of us.  And after one look at the line and leaving I went back and got emissions on the truck, still passes the "short test" with 158,000 (98 F150 4.6, clutch).  The wife was worn out from the SS office, so we got "soul food for dinnner; catfish, chicken, cabbage/bacon, taters n gravy, cornbread, sweet potato pie.
Now back to work tomorrow, until I get so tired I can't take it any more, or the traffic gets so bad that I will have to leave for home before I get to work.
just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are not watching you

Guy:
If I tried to change my wife's oil presuming I could find a drain plug on her and the proper grade oil, I would still be in a heap of hurt. ;D

I'm the guy that a fair number of friends and aquaintences call when their vehicle needs maintenance or repair. most of the time there's no pain involved....but sometimes, I regret ever learning how to work on cars!!

Oil and Filters, Tire pressure is about the only thing a guy can do these days. Even changing spark plugs is a chore. You got to find them first.

Recently I mentioned to a younger guy that I still had a dwell meter laying around.
His reply was: " A what meter?"

Most new cars have ran off and left me as far as working on them.  Luckily my son took an "ASE" certified automotive course while in high school.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

If you need a timing light or a second dwell meter just let me.  Everybody needs two dwell meters these days  ;).

around here somewhere. still
have a hone for brake wheel
and master cylinders with a
new set of stones too. i can
remember when one could buy
rebuild kits for same at a reasonable
price, and rebuild components
for generators and alternators
and starters.
i still have cornmeal in the cabinet
too! thankfully, it's not obsolete ;)

Thanks, as if I don't have enough stuff to get rid of, like a left handed 4 wheel compound bow.

If it is the 4.0 inline six, you've got one of the easiest engines to work on there is.  One of the longest lasting too.  My mechanic and his wife both have one and he loves them.  Get the cover off and the world opens up under there.  If you have the V8, well, enjoy the power and hope for the best.
