Iron Mountain Daily News...


The report - compiled by climatologists in the University of Alabama Huntsville's Earth Science Center - states that when compared to seasonal norms, the coldest place on Earth in January was the Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Iron River, where temperatures were as much as roughly 6.95 degrees cooler than normal.

back when i worked as an electrical lineman out of munising we were sometimes sent to iron river to help there crew build lines. This was mostly in the winter as thats our slow time and we use it for construction. Its ALLWAYS about 10 degrees colder there then anywhere in the UP. Pretty area though
