I had one of the guys whose family farms my place over here a couple of years ago. I don't think he ever shot a rifle in his life. We were just out on the back deck. I brought out the 22 inch .45-70 and showed him where the gong was on the berm, and where to aim. He rested on the deck rail...Bang..Klang.....and wide open eyes with a look of sheer wonderment. He couldn't believe he hit something he could barely see 300 yards away.
Here's the sad part....No convert. The boy went out and bought a Savage .243. No accounting for some folk's taste.

P.S. They have a continuing wolf problem, so I can well understand the .243. My Handi .243 is my dedicated wolf rifle when they need a hand.
