454 cassull for encore

Right now I have an encore with 223 barrel which is very accurate.   Have found a 454 12 inch bbl with sights that is new.   On the fence whether I really need this.   Any pros and cons from anyone.  Currently use rifle for deer hunting and the 223 pistol bbl for varmints.  Thanks everybody.

If you have never hunted/shot large game with a handgun then you should buy this barrel and do it.  If you never plan on shooting a deer sized or larger game animal with this barrel then just let it pass, you'll get over it.

I think it would be a far better choice than a 460 barrel. I have a 16 in. 460 barrel and it really jumps with 460 ammo and I have not been able to find a 460 load that has the accuracy I want. I have been told that it would be a lot more accurate with 454 ammo in it. With the 454 barrel you should get good accuracy with 45 Colt ammo also and reduce recoil a bunch. I have killed a bunch of deer with a 44 mag. and can tell you it is a very good deer round. The 454 is a little  bigger and better, so should get you just a little more range than the 44 mag.
