More news on the possible California breakup:

I sure hope it catches on in other states.  I wonder if this kind of stuff has been going on in the Ukraine in recent years?

IG:  I could see this, easily.  Six more west coast states - 3 city states, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco; and the remaining country-side broken into 3 more states - Southern CA, Middle CA or just CA, and Northern CA.

You could do the same in Illinois - make chicago its own state and free the rest of the state for future prosperity.

Definately in nys.  Make nyc it's own state and free upstate for future prosperity.

Maybe even Miami, and possibly Galveston, Tx.  Don't forget detroit.

Great thing is that if you give those cities statehood and they go lib/sem as they will, the remainder of the state balances that out with a strong gop/conservative presence and although the lib/dems will think of this as a victory, they will soon see the folly of their economic failings and the 'lands of the free giveaway' will simply become pits of economic despair begging the federal gov't to bail them out which should have a very negative impact on how the lib/dems spend other people's money.

It's sort of like gun control.  Whenever the dems lay into it and fail and lose some of their numbers as a result, some of those remaining are smart enough to keep their mouths shut so they can keep their jobs.  Economics goes the same way.

There have been movements in a small number of states to split but they too often fail because the people who make the regulations are centered in the major cities that the rest of the state wants to separate itself from.  I would love to see California, New York, Colorado, and Illinois split leaving their major cities as separate entities but then the problem would arise of the city dwellers wanting to live outside the city regulations and expenses but still profit from the city.  Even the city dwellers don't want the tyrannical rule of the cities for themselves.  The true non-city dwellers have very little of the clout needed to get-r-done.

This same blight has been happening for decades.  Utilizing transportation improvements many of those who make big $$$ in the big cities, have decided to have their homes in the nearby countryside..  The Hudson valley and nearby Connecticut, for New York, eastern Penn for New Jersey and just look what the Hollywood crowd have done to Colorado!..Houston has bled north and Austin seems a haven for same.  The problem being that these who flee the cities tend to bring their stunted, city mentality with them

Where I am the city dweller influx was held at bay for a lot of years because of the tenacity of the locals.  As an example had one guy move in down the road who complained about the smell of a local dairy farmer's honey wagon spraying his fields.  Couple of loads of the good stuff on his lawn convinced him to move back to town.  Other similar but more drastic events took care of others.  Problem is there is just too many of the idiots to fend them all off.

Mikey I think you have a serious understanding of the situation.

Renewing...  I am suspicious of the 6-state solution..  The crooks...you know who i mean..would possibly make  5 small blue states and 1 large red state..with the usual 2 senators per state.

A situation with 2 states would be fine, and not hard to do !

That is one thing which really galls me, is when somebody moves in beside a farm, or farm fields..then b-itches about farm smells...  Well...DUH !

Same with people who move in next to a major airport, and whines about jet noise !

I have  no sympathy for either.
