Questions on 6.5 tcu and 7 tcu using 10" barrel
« on: February 24, 2014, 05:20:53 AM »
I have been offered two barrels, both are 10", one is 6.5 tcu and the other is 7 tcu.  Could someone with experience using these calibers in 10" barrels give me an idea as to accuracy and how they would perform on deer size game?  I have a 6 tcu and 7 tcu in 14", but am concerned about the loss of velocity and increased muzzle blast from the shorter barrel.

I shot a 7 TCU for years in IHMSA and it would knock over 50 lb rams at 200 yards with ease. Of course like any round with limited powder capacity it is best to use heavy for cal. bullets. I never shot a deer or other critter as I hunted with a 7X30 Waters . Others shot the 6.5 and liked it , I doubt there is much difference .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I got about 125 fps less velocity in my 10" 7mmTCU vs the 14".  Google "Bullet Expansion Test 7mm TCU" and you might find an article.
