Just saw an H&R 32 gauge
« on: February 26, 2014, 12:07:04 PM »
I just watched the NatGeo special, Bear Island, on netflix and spotted a ranger using what looked to be an oddly gauged H&R single-shot to shoot darts into brown bears. A little googling and, sure enough, they made a traquilizer setup with a 32 gauge shotgun and a tranq. dart adapter (powered by .22 blanks). Anyway, it was a pretty good documentary and rare enough to see such a firearm, so I thought I'd share it here.
What I have: 30-06 Handi (2003), 12ga mod. bbl
What I want: .22lr offset (versa-pack) bbl, 357 Max bbl

The Palmer Cap-Chur  Extra Long Range Projector tranq gun is/was made by H&R.

Yeah, that has the same front bead and (odd too me) rear sight as the one in the movie, case colors alike too. The only difference I could see was in the forend, which looks like a standard Pardner in the film.

The schable forends for all H&Rs were the standard style for many years, the case coloring is of the same time frame as well(1990s), the current style came later as far as NEF/H&Rs reverting back to the H&R Inc style forends.
