I just ordered a 10/22 take down
« on: February 27, 2014, 02:58:35 AM »
I was in a shop this AM and saw that Ruger tactile take downs are available. My dealer said his distributor had some so I had him order me one!

$330  should have it in a week or two...

I really want a Papoose, but this will do too. :)

i'm jealous to a degree. :'(
i can't make myself pay what
they cost for that.
i'll have to keep my old musty
non-takedown 10/22 i bought
in the 80's for 130.00 new.
i was hard enough for me to
put a scope on it that cost
1 1/2 times as much as the rifle :'(
(maybe if i win the lotto)
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I know what you mean, I sold a couple rifles and had the ''credit''. It was worth more if used in the store so I did. ;)

I have had a few 10-22's in the past myself. Always liked them.

I really wanted a Papoose, but been waiting a while and aside form some fruitless reports of different dealers having them. I haven't found one. Gunbroker has a older one now or last week. But no case or extras just rifle...

This is arguably a better rifle anyhow. I just had a bunch of mags for the Marlin and none for the Ruger.

I guess I need a couple mags for the 10-22 now. ;)

those shouldn't be hard to find.
for a while there, a good while
back, there weren't any 10/22
mags of any configuration to be had.
now, even ruger got off the pot and
sells their branded extended mags.
they're supposed to be better than
the old aftermarkets, although i
never had any problems with any
of mine. ramlines or butler creek
either one. have a 50 wind-up drum somewhere.
the little case the t/d comes with
is something i'd really like to have,
although i bet it would be pricey too.
ol' bill r. would be spinning i.t.g. if
i were to buy one and tote an ar-7 in it ;D

Hey Brian,
Are you going to customize this one with after market special barrel and accessories or leave as is??

Hello Sam!

Of coarse I will! ;)  But probably not crazy, I want to focus on reliability and function. So my typical internal 10-22 mods. Like hold open release and trigger work. Little larger and easier to manipulate bolt. I have peeps already and really want this one handy and packable so I'm leaning this direction. Firesite front site, threaded protector and removal of the flash hider. Extra mags and a couple of those tri mount thingies for them. MAYBE a proprietary laser...

Count on pics. ;)

Right now 10-22 mags are still in short supply. I had some on order from Midway and they finally shipped them to me but the .22 magnum mags are still on back order. I have the Magnum Research clones in both .22LR and .22 Magnum.

Would you believe I've never owned a Ruger 10-22?

Seeing as how it's a takedown the barrel mount Skinner peep or the Marble's Bullseye may be the best solution for a peep sight.

I have a Williams already. But I will look at those you suggest!

Bill,

They are great rifles. If you just want a plinker there are used and cheaper versions. My dealer has a couple doz mags and I just bought three off eBay for under 17$ shipped each. I have given up on orders from Midway. If they have what I need when I want it I'll buy it. Otherwise I go elsewhere. There system for back orders is fatially flawed.
