Sounds like you could use some "Reloading 101". "The ABCs of Reloading" is a good way to get basic info. on components and procedures of reloading metallic cartridges. The "Lyman's 49th" is also a good starting point (if you can't afford one, check the local library).
There is basically two primer sizes, small and large, but each size is broken down into several sub-categories (standard, magnum, bench rest, mil. spec., etc.). Each has their intended use but many can be cross purposed. Your reloading manual lists the recommended primer as per the cartridge listed.
BTW; I suggest you find a particular load, with charge amounts and specific components in your reloading manual, before you purchase any powder, primers, or bullets. Far fewer headaches looking for load data for mis-matched components...
