I have a hard time seeing my target downrange after one shot with my muzzle-loader, Couldn't imagine what a smoke screen firing 14 times in 20 seconds would make.
Antis could make the argument, that because our fore-fathers disregarded the importance of a repeating rifle for the military back then, they also disregarded it's importance to the civilian market when creating the Bill of Rights. Like the 2A, it comes down to one's interpretation. In seriousness, nobody knows what our forefathers were thinking back then, nor does it have any real bearing today. Our 2A rights today are dependent not on what those fore-fathers thought at the time, but what our modern day politicians think and the interpretation of the 2A by the Judges they appoint.
IOWs, our 2A rights are much more dependent on our right to vote, than any backstory. Want to keep our 2A rights, then we have to vote and persuade others to vote appropriately. To persuade others, IMHO, I think we need to impress upon them more so how the 2A relates to us today, than how it related to our forefathers.
