Laminate Stock for Rem 597 22LR
« on: February 26, 2004, 06:55:27 AM »
I am looking for a deal on a laminate stock for my Rem 597 22lr.  Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on one?  I have seen a few out there on the web but the one I saw was $200+.  I am looking for a better deal than that.

Also, do you know if there is a way I can purchase an upgrade to a 17HMR barrel for my 22lr?  I've heard some rumblings of such an upgrade but I don't know if it is true or fiction.

Thanks...

WNY_Whitetailer, check here for lots of 597 info:
http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php
You'll find info on barrels, stocks and more, plus links to manufacturers. Look in the "Remington"  thread. BTW, Boyd's usually has laminated stocks for $25 or so as overstocks.  I'm not sure about switching the 22 LR to 17 HMR, but the 17 HMR rifle can be swapped to 22 Mag with just a barrel change.  I do this with my 597 LS which came from the factory as a 17 HMR rifle. Seems like Revival Industries has a pretty good deal on a laminate stock for my 597.  All ready for me to drop my 597 in without any fitting problems.  At least I hope.  This little gun will look good with my new Bushnell 3-9x32 Rimfire scope on it and the new stock replacing the gray synthetic one.
