CORRECT AND ADMONISH
D. L. Moody had been forewarned that some of the congregation usually left before
the end of the sermon. When he rose to begin his message, he began by saying, “I am
going to speak to two groups of people this morning. First, to the sinners among us,
then to the saints. After the first part of the sermon, he looked around and told
the “sinners” they could leave. For once, every member of the church stayed to the
end of the sermon.^1
“As for those who are guilty and persist in sin, rebuke and admonish them in the
presence of all, so that the rest may be warned and stand in wholesome awe and fear”
(1 Timothy 5:20). “Rebuke” means “to convict…generally with a suggestion of the
shame of the person convicted, and here means to reprehend severely, chide,
admonish, reprove. For this passage (some) suggest ‘reprove, correct.’ The NEB has
‘expose publicly.’”^2 The New King James Version states, “Those who are sinning
rebuke.”
“I believe there is an obedience to the Gospel, there is a self-denial and a bearing
of the cross if you are to be a follower of Christ. Being a Christian is a serious
business” (Billy Graham).^3

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about
us," A. W. Tozer.
The concept of God we have will be the God we have.
** Day of
Reckoning

The Bible warns that the last days will be a carbon copy of Noah's day. Violence is
rampant; the world is degenerate and rebellious. Lethargy and apathy reign in the
church. We're being warned to prepare for Christ's return.
"He will come to rescue those who eagerly wait."
