I thought we would have a greater number of members using the Reloaded forums than we have. Looks like about 5 or so of us doing all the posting. If we could get more members interested, I would use this site exclusively, as I don't like what GBO has morphed into. I seldom go there anymore, and not just because of what Matt started here.I tend to politic on other forums now and for outdoor stuff go to specialty forums.

I agree Brad. VS only wants post count. No matter what the outcome will eventually be.

Considering the number of folks complaining there and wishing for the old GBO back there sure aren't many who are backing up the talk with visits here. Some of it could be that I haven't openly come out and asked folks to. But I can't in good faith do that while representing them over there. Matt was aware of my position on that when he set this up.

What has happened is clear example of -- be careful what you wish for, you may receive it -- exposing that talk is cheap and whining makes one look cheap when offered a solution.

Keep up the posts Charlie.You doing the right thing. I guess I'll start sending some PM's to some of our regular long time posters over there.
I wouldn't feel good about asking members on their site to visit another,but what we discuss on a PM is our business.
I just hate to see Matt's hard work and time wasted trying to resurrect this one. I personally think it's a great idea.

JMO, but it looks to me like neither forum is like it used to be. I believe you folks have hurt both forums. It took a long time to get used to the first change. And now the braybeardreloaded is not like it was orgionally. So a lot of folks that have looked over here didn’t find what they expected. And as long as Lloyd is allowed to do as he pleases with his personal attacks, it’s unlikely to gain more traffic on either forum.

If Lloyd wasn't always the scape goat for declining post. It would be someone else.
Its the snide little remark from trolls who are causing it just to instigate a fight. A couple of members I talked
to said THATs why they left. They said they posted one little post that was on topic. And one of these trolls
put him down with rude remarks only for the trolls own enjoyment. And nothing happened to the troll.

To some people, what someone says to, or about them maybe can be seen as only a site joke, little pants.
But to others you not know it isn't. Out here that would get you a black eye or worse. Say those things
to there face and see what happens. So I know what your going to say, if you can't take the heat get out
of the kitchen. So they did.

I've been on a lot of forums since windows 98. And this was exactly what killed them. Or the moderators
took sides with the trolls, only because they were site friends. So the site became an internet cluster F.

I have found that A: forums as a whole are declining because it is been there, done that. B: texting is taking a lot. C: Forums where people become attached "friends" dominate threads and others get tired, or are afraid , of being an outsider.
A last one that is sad but inevitable, the older members are dying, although some have moved to facebook.I have found this greatly affects some auto sites I am on or was.I have been banned from the non-garden , general chat thread on the largest garden site because I was not paranoid about the virus.

But since this is a gun forum, for the most part, liberal participation is a moot point. This thread is not about the non-participation of liberals, but the non-participation of outdoor loving, firearm owning, shooters and hunters. This at a time when so many of us are staying home with nothing else to do but surf the net. Other gun forums I belong to, are busier than ever with folks coming out of the woodwork. Maybe it's not all those other folks that are the issue with the low participation this place has, but with those that are here. Folks, me included, were excited to hear a "new and improved" GBO was starting up. I was looking forward to the forum as it was when I first joined many years ago. I'd guess this is how it was for others. Lots of active sub-forums from which to glean knowledge and exchange ideas. When I first joined GBO back in 2007, the sub-forums were all busy. Handguns, handgun hunting, reloading, all had new threads on a hourly basis and I learned a lot from them. Now with this new forum, there have only been three new threads started in the reloading section and the last activity there was right after Christmas, more than three months ago. The Handgun subforum? 4 threads with a total of 4 replies in 4 months. These are what should be two of the most popular sub-forums on any gun related internet forum and they are so quiet the crickets don't even chirp. Maybe the mass of folks that wanted GBO like it was before, came and found out nothing has changed. Still the same ol' 5 person boy's club trashing everything and everyone, blaming the failure of this place on others, while slapping each other on the back for it.

Not all of the gun sites out there are doing well. Some of them are even slower than this one.
Or they have closed the doors within the past two years and aren't around anymore.
One thing about that is if they are centered around just one type of gun, how many
times are folks going to post about just one gun? I can think about a couple of them
who are not around anymore.

I see where the GBO competition copy cat sites aren't even doing as well as this one is. One of them swore
up and down that they would never have a religious forum. They even banned some folks for even
mentioning it. Then Lo and Behold guess what showed up over there?

It was amazing lol. Even put in a science forum and one for music. I like what Bill had to say about that.

I agree, not all gun sites are doing well. Not many slower than this one tho. One reason I used to like this site so much is because of the varied content of it's sub-forums. Wild edibles, ol" injun tircks, the state forums, plus individual platform forums. This wide variety meant this site at one time, was a wealth of information. Now it's down to politics, news and religion and all three are heavily slanted in the direction of the same 5 people.

I keep coming back regularly hoping to see something new. I still hold hope that this place could be what it was. Glad I ain't holding my breath.

I gave Matt a list of the copy cats, and of some of the competition. I don't know if he cheaked them out
or not. Still, GBO has well known name recognition, where most the others don't.
But they are watching you can bet they are.

This nails it. Forums are on the decline. Very few young people utilize this form of internet interaction. If you talk to a younger person and mention an Internet forum they well may not know what you are talking about.
