Remember those coming down your street playing music? And you ran into the house saying mom, its the ice cream truck.

I remembered them as an adult. Didn't have any growing up in the country. Made our own Ice cream. I hated sitting there cranking the dam thing. Seemed like it took hours. At least we didn't do it everyday like cranking the darn churn, making butter. We had a frig, but also had an ice box. Dad traded milk to the iceman for a big chunk of ice. We used it making our ice cream as well.

Life sure was simple back then. They say you can't go back, but I'm doing it right now. ;)

Nope. I didn't live in town and was at the end of a dead end road. None came out my way and really in the days I was a kid I don't think they had such. Heck we didn't even have a refrigerator, we had an ice box and the ice man came around delivering ice a couple times or so a week.

We did not have one in my home town till about twenty years ago or so.
We had the little neighborhood grocery stores where you could get similar stuff.
It was around for about five years then went away as did the kids who were in the neighbor hood.
Those were warm dryer summers.
I miss both.

I wasn't rural growing up in Roswell. We had them, but I'm sure they aren't around anymore.
All we have now is the Mexican food roach coaches selling burritos.
