Parts are in!
« on: February 27, 2004, 06:57:43 AM »
Well my patrs came in from CVA.  The ordered parts were 2 wedge pins and 2 thimbles.  The gun is all put together and looks bee-you-tee-full!  The new blued parts look a bit odd on there so I MAY try and age them a bit to get a similar look to fit the rest of the gun.  I also happened to be sifting through my Cabelas shooter guide (more like bible,) and found Hickory replacement ramrods that can be cut to length.  IAt a price of 7.99 I may just do that (though Im still sticking with the rod on there right now.)  I also think I know why my ramrod is pretty tight to get in and out of the stock.  Seems ramrods come in a couple of different diameters?  Well I measure the plastic one I have and sure enough the thing is 3/8" and I think Im supposed to have a 5/16".  No biggie really.  Im supposed to go shooting this weekend (to try out my new Encore   ) and am taking this gun along to shoot out the sabot so I can finish the absolute last and final part of this project, which is to scrubb the barrel clean and see how much rust I can get out.  As I said about a month and a half ago the lands and grooves are still pretty well defined, so we will see what the final outcome will be.  Im also shooting off my buddys CVA to get the sabot out of his gun so HE can also finish his part of that project.  All in all the gun is ready for the deer woods sans some sighting in and practice.  I still am not sure about the sights, and while I thought about fibre optic sights for this gun I may go a little more traditional, if not modern, full adjustable leaf rear and bead front to get a little more definition (cursed eyesight   .)
