I worked some more on the the boxes of old ammo and I found more paper hulled rounds. Mostly mixed boxes but there's a 25 round box off Winchester 00 buck rounds with I think 12 rounds in it. I looked at a lot shotgun ammo today and I didn't take notes... I'm thinking there's around 2 to 3 boxes of mixed 2 3/4" paper hulled bird shot rounds. The few odd buck shot rounds are going to be saved and I plan to shoot the old stuff later this summer when I next go shooting with my grandsons. I plan to break out my old 1902 Savage Humpback Browning designed shotgun. It hasn't be shot in awhile and I think it would be only fitting to use it to shoot the old paper hulled rounds. It's also stronger than my late prewar Stevens double...
There's one full box of Remington paper hulled rounds but the box is in poor shape and missing the top but the rounds look very good. I don't know if there would be any collector value. I don't collect ammo so I'm not up on that.
There's 6 or 7 boxes of 12g rounds in plain white boxes. All of them are 3" rounds and Remington hulls. At first I though it was a killer find since 2 of boxes the rounds are all marked 00 Buck 15 pellets. But after opening the rest of the boxes I found a couple rounds that had bad crimps. It's hard to tell but these are reloads. I'm thinking they're so me kind of factory reloads because they look so good and are all in matching green Remington hulls. I used a needle nose pliers to open one of the rounds that had the crimp mostly open anyway and it's filled with BB or maybe #2 shot. I squished it back closed and put it all aside. I'm not sure what to do with these. I don't like to shoot unknown reloads.
Most of the rest of the shotgun ammo is somewhat modern 12g with a couple boxes looking to be from the early 1960s. The 20 and .410 gauge ammo we can use but the 2 boxes of 28 gauge will go in the to be traded lot...
