can someone tell me the best, and cheapest traps to use for fox, coyote, bobcat, and coon.i like to use a victor #1 1/2 longspring for coons on a blindset,i took more coons with that trap and set than any other,i had 2 of those traps, one pocket set and one blind, and i had this old man that was teaching me how to set a snare for my first fox and bobcat, but he died last month,so now i have his books and his trapping supplies his wife said he wanted me to have, and these books are great and im learning alot, but i have no clue what kinda trap im gonna use next year,i reckon i have a long time to figure it out,but I need someone elses opinion.and also what lures,i didnt use any lure for the blind set,but i made my own for the fox, bobcat, and that cubby set for the coon, heres the recipe,it worked for the fox,but the bobcat kinda seemed to stay away from it,luckily i had a stupid one run ast my set,and the coon didnt like it either, heres the recipe for it
bobat lure:4 ground beaver castors,1 ounce muskrat musk,10 drops oil of catnip
Fox lure:5 pounds thumb-size chunks of muskrat meat,1/4 ounce of raw skunk musk
coon lure:canned sardines or cat food, glycerine added to form sticky paste//////Coon lure#2:1/2 pint honey,10 drops oil of anise,10 drops oil of catnip.
Ive also got lure recipes for marten, weasel, fisher, muskrat, mink, lynx, beaver and coyote,oh yeah and this book was written in the 1970's so if these recipes sound funny thats why,it was written by George B. Clawson, boggy probably knows who he is,well guys sorry this thing was so long, get back with me as soon as possible,thanks[/b]
