my wifes birthday today and she said she wanted ribeyes for supper on the grill. Went to the store and bought two at 18 BUCKS A POUND!!!! Heck with gold. I should have bought a freezer full of vaccum packed ribeyes 3 years ago.

Last Friday was our oldest daughter & her husbands 27 anniversary. Haven’t been able to go out to eat for a while but we took them to the new Texas Road House in Ocala for a anniversary dinner. The food and service was excellent. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye cooked medium rare with sauted onions and mushrooms and a baked potato and ceaser salad. All 4 of us ate everything we wanted and I got out of there for a little less than $100 including the tip.

Choice beef boneless ribeye steaks are about $10.00 a pound average. Once in a while you find a sale for $8.99 a pound.

If you will settle for good grade beef they are about $5.99.

When I used to visit Montana frequently I would visit the Flathead Indian Rez and buy buffalo meat from their annual heard culling. Buffalo meat is very good.

We stop at the local meat store....it's called "The Meat Store" ..... and we pick up a beef backstrap for between a hundred and a hundred and a quarter. Only drawback is Elaine wants me to butcher to her specs before we vacuum pack it with the food savor. Actually, the talent the Little Lady exhibits at either the stove or the grill makes it all worthwhile.

I'll be on a "Red Tag" farm hunt next week, (deprevation hunt), so venison will be back on the menu very soon!

Around here , even at the high buck food store, you can find prime rib or rib eye steaks for seven bucks a pound on sale , fairly often.

Depending on time of year, sales prices vary between seven and eleven dollars a pound.
Eighteen dollars a pound is very high at any place.

Its one of the disadvantages to living up here in the sticks. Food and gas tend to run higher then anywhere else.
