6 with the grendel so far
« on: August 01, 2020, 12:42:01 AM »
from 50-280 yards. All one shot kills. Farthest ones ran is one shot at 190 behind the shoulder that made about 40 yards. 4 out of the six were dead right there. Pretty pleased with this little pee shooter.

I'm working up some loads for my 6.5 this weekend. I'm hoping a couple of my old powders I have on hand will work. I've been shooting a little factory ammo and I'm impressed with this caliber. I haven't gotten out past 100 yards yet.

2 more last night. One spike at a 100 that dropped in its tracks with a golf ball sized exit and one big doe at 250 that I shot immediately after the spike and didn't take time to settle down and hit her in the guts. She made about 80 yards and her whole insides from the diaphragm back were liquid. Ive been use 30 grains of 2230 and a 100 grain ballistic tip and a fed small rifle match primer. Shoots 3/4 in 5 shot groups in my ar.

I'm shooting Ar platform too. I loaded up some Hornady 123gr SST with H335 and IMR 3031 because I have a good amount of both on hand. I should get to the range next week to see what they shoot like. I'm running a 1 in 8 twist and figured a heavier bullet would be better but it sounds like 100's work for you. You must be filling ag tags?

yup crop damage tags. Only bullets ive shot so far have been the 100 bt and the 100 interlock Ive got bought 5 boxes of 123sst's and 5 boxes of 120 gold dots to try too but shot the 100 bts and interlocks first and never saw a need to go any further. By the way the interlocks shoot darned well as good but I believe there a discontinued bullet so I don't think your going to find any. I like the idea of more speed with the 100s. It will darned near do 243 speed with a 100 and honestly I wouldn't shoot a deer with it past 250 and for sure 300 yards so the extra bc a 120 might have isn't really a factor. What is to me shooting this many deer is dead right there kills and the ballistic tips are about the king of that category.
