Meeting at our legion post last night, called in a legal adviser..here's how it went:
" Repeating a post concerning gatherings : .....Como's rules for such gatherings seem to be a combination of Draconian and Quixotic. Our Legion post met with a legal adviser last evening, to discuss how we can reopen the socializing portion of our post. Customers must eat with their beer. We don't have an inspected kitchen, so hot dogs and wings are out! Chips and pretzels not enough ! We are relegated to Hot Pockets or pizza run through the microwave. No sitting and eating a single piece of pizza for 2 hours..there is a time limit! Folks liked to watch NASCAR or ball games while socializing, no more unless you want to stuff yourself with Hot Pockets for 4-5 hours... don't know if THAT is even legal. Adviser says to be safe, we may want to put the tape lines and Xes on the floor, to govern where people stand. There are "brown shirts" in plain clothes, checking to level fines in thousands of dollars! There are also "concerned citizens", blowing people in for violations.
We veterans started to contemplate.. During the 30s and 40s, people arriving at at Auschwitz, were required to line up at the lines or Xes on the ground.. The real brown shirts , along with were reporting violators, and "concerned citizens" were encouraged to help. So, as we pondered what has happened to our constitutional republic..we veterans pondered.."What did we serve for..was it for THIS?"
