You don't know what you had.

Until it's gone. Wife's working up north, and I miss her very much already. It's like something is missing.

I think about that real often concerning my other half, and even friends.
I am quite healthy but she and all my friends are far from healthy.
I have a very small circle of friends, 5 including my brother, although he is not health challenged, yet.
It is starting to really sink home how under appreciated they are.

I've already outlived pretty much all of my old friends. Still have the wife tho neither of us are in all that great of health. This week is our 55th anniversary plus we dated about ten months before getting married.

If you get really lonely go visit her. It's not that far to Albuqurque. Then you both can bask in the opulence of the canker at the intersection of I-25 and I-40.

It will be 3 years the 29 of November that I lost my wife of 62 years 7 months and 17 days plus we dated for 2 and a half years before I had received a couple of promotions that gave us enough money to live on and get married. Not a day goes buy that i do not think of her and it does not get any easier. I look back on those years and wonder where the years went, yesterday was my oldest sons 62 year birthday don't seem that long that I was holding him for the first time.

I was sitting with Dad in his bedroom, just me and him when he took his last breath 14 years ago. It would take me a month of saying "you were right" for the advice I should took.

Covid has kept me outta the nursing home since March from seeing my mother but, today they let me come through the courtyard gate and they pushed her up to the glass door.
I'm gonna lose her twice. She never knew I was standing there.

Well Argent, it's been 3 years and 3 months ago. Similar to the deacon's story, we were teenage sweethearts, and married while I was in the Army. I met her somewhat earlier, but it was at her 16th birthday party, that we became an 'item'.
We had 60 years as man & wife, and had 2 sons, one of which we lost to an auto accident when he was but a teenager.

How do I handle it?  Part just "grit my teeth and bear it', but the primary redeeming factor is the faith we shared.  Without Jesus as a major part of our lives, it would be almost unbearable..but we have His promise of a reunion, when that time comes.

I think of TM7...how painful it must be , to have a loved one taken..simply because somebody didn't care..so unnecessary !

Another helpful factor, is having family nearby.  My son and daughter-in-law, actually live right next door, and 2 of my 3 grandson's with their families, live just a few miles away so I see them often.
I did have a little pet dog which I had bought for my wife years ago, when the little pet dog she did have, died. About 2 weeks ago, when working around my home, I had to tear down his leisure yard, so I tied him out.
He had plenty of feed and water on that very hot day, but I was away for a few hours and he got his chain snagged, where he could get no shade or water...so I lost little Paco !

I guess I am like a wolf, since it is said, they mate solely to one for life. Since my wife's passing, some have suggested that I find another for company.  I did renew acquaintance with an old friend who had lost her husband several years ago.  She was always a very attractive lady, and the wife & I used to attend their gospel singing performances often.
She is still an attractive and pleasant lady, but that is not for me... so I guess I'll "sail my ship alone" until I am again with my beloved.

So you ask, "how do I handle it?"  ...For me, Jesus is the answer.

Before anyone thinks I am selling them short; my decision to "go it alone", may not work for everyone.
If another can find happiness by reaching out again, well God bless them!  I am only speaking of what works for myself, not necessarily for anyone else..

About a week before my wife died she told me that she wanted me to remarry after she had passed and I said to her no one wonts a 80 plus year old man on his last legs as a husband. All you run across these days have more of what I call baggage than I care to deal with so I deal with the loneness and call it good.
