Studebaker celebrated their 100th anniversary in 1952. They started with wagons, actually wheelbarrows, and built many of the Conestoga type wagons for the westward pioneers, long with farm wagons and various trade wagons.
There was once a short film about "wheelbarrow Johnny". John Studebaker went west for the gold rush, but he found his skill as a cartwright paid him better than taking a chance for gold. He made wheelbarrows for the prospectors, saved his money, nd came home to South Bend and started the Studebaker works !
