I went to a wake today for a relative, in law, I had only seen once in the past forty years, at my Aunt's funeral.
I was glad I went as I saw others that seemed to know me far better than I knew them but my Aunt was quite close to them for some years after their Grandmother died who was a blood relative to me.
In the printed obit. I saw his history and found out 55 years later why a neighbor of my Grandfather was as close of a friend as he was his friends wife was the late person's Aunt.
The late man's son is a Missouri Synod, or was ordained as such, preacher who has a mission in Costa Rica.
He went to the same Lutheran Grade School as I did but was six years behind me.
The Wake was at the Church that had the school, closed last year, and I was amazed at how many people, younger than me knew who I, and my brother, not there, were.
I used to , at times, when introduced to some one who was a friend of of a not close friend, say: I have never seen you before but I can't remember your name!
The would give me an odd look.
Time goes on.
