On the old H & R site, one of the guys (I think it was perklo)came up with the idea of grinding flats on the tool so a standard socket could be used.
I thought this was a great idea, but since I don't have a friend with a machine shop, it took me a while to figure out how to do this.
Finally I came up with the idea of epoxy gluing a nut on the end of the tool and then putting the tool and the nut in a pair of vise grips. The nut provides an accurate guide to file the flats. The vise grips provide a handle. This takes a lot of patience if you are using a hand file like me, but it is a lot cheaper than taking it to a machine shop. Since I already had vise grips and a file, my only cost was for the nut and the epoxy.
This makes the breech plug tool a lot easier to use when the plug is stuck.
