kind of sad
« on: October 20, 2020, 06:30:48 AM »
was down town today and a friend told me that a week ago friday they had a fish fry dinner at the american legion. The do it twice a year and its free for any vet and his family. Turns out someone was infected and 91 people got infected. The reals sad news is the guy that headed up our small memorial we set up in the township cemetery. He was a retired navy seabee chief. He die yesterday from it. One other vet is in critical condition. Found out last week my nephew thats a prison guard caught it. It just exploded at that prison. There even shipping in staff from other prisons to fill in for the people out. Now yesterday my sister (his mother) tested positive. Wasnt 6 months ago and our county had one of the lowest rates in the country. In the last month numbers have just exploded here. Probably scarier here because we dont have the big hospitals the citys have.  we have a tiny one in our town that doesnt even keep people overnight anymore and two that are 60 miles from here in opposite directions and what we call citys are in reality not even a big town in most places and these hospitals are small too. Closest real hospitals are in Petosky and green bay and there both a 150 miles or more from here. Thank you to our wonderful governor. She shut down hair stylists, bars, resteraunts and didnt do a think to stop the influx of tourists up here. Didnt shut down any tourist related business. Why would she. Nobody goes on vacation to detroit where here black voters live or to Dearborn where here muslim voters live. A month ago every dirt road in the county had campers parked in them. The beaches looked like a Bangladesh tent city. Probably 3 times the normal tourism. All the idiots coming north because they thought it was the only safe place to go on there vacation instead of staying home. She cares about the southern 1/4 of the state because they are her core voters. The liberals from the big citys and the welfare trash. Told my buddy today that given a choice between her being reelected and trump winning or her loosing and biden winning would be a tough choice. hands down the worse governor weve ever had and probably in the top 5 of worse ever governors in any state including CA!

Sorry to hear of your loss.

But... are you saying you (and the rest of the country) would have been better off just ignoring the virus?  That seems a bit strange given your experience.  It also sounds like they had a rather large gathering if 91 folks were infected (I am sure they were all wearing masks given the influx of outsiders)???  I hope your sister gets the best of care.

No what im saying is the tourist brought that crap up here and if they would have stayed home this area would still be one of the least effected areas in the country. MANY conflicts up here this summer because idiots tried to come into stores without masks. Like i said too the beach was nothing but a hippy commune this summer. Tent after tent sometimes only 2 feet apart. Then add to that with resteraunts open and the fact you dont have to eat with a mask on about insured the spread of it. Masks arent all thats needed. People need to get in there stupid heads that this is serious and STAY HOME unless its ABSOLUTELY necessary. Stick your freedom to wander around infecting people up your      . The thing at the legion here is a very good example of STUPID. Bunch of old vets (some friends of mine and im a member there myself) that have it in there craw that nobody can tell them what to do and there so much of a tough guy that there not afraid of that virus. Over half the people that went there came home with the virus and now the death toll is 2. The wife of another friend of mine died yesterday afternoon. There still chasing down all the people that those almost 200 people were in contact with. Wonder how much tax money is spent every day in this country just doing that???? Just to fix egotistical stupid people.

Well so far the snow birds annual flight down to Florida seems to be very thin. I’m just wondering if their staying home until after the election or for the winter?

It’s very uncertain either way. The tourist industry and many support business can’t survive much longer, but neither can we afford a big outbreak of COVID again. I’m going out to shop for groceries and to the Y 5-6 days a week. But I practice social distancing but refuse to wear a mask. A paper mask or cloth mask is not going to stop a virus. Better to just avoid sick people.

I check my vitals every morning. Blood pressure, temp, ox saturation, blood sugars. So far normal every day.

I get the flu shot every year but so far haven’t this year. Will at my next dr. appointment.

And then I just trust in God to keep me safe and healthy.

Just the opposite here. Usually there gone by now but campgrounds are still open and the nieces resort had its first open cabin of the year last weekend. I think its like i said. People think this is wilderness and think its safe here. If you saw the campgrounds and the downtown of our little town this summer youd shake your head at that. Just saw in the paper were one of the biggest problems they had this summer was discarded face masks everywhere. They had to sent city workers with hazmat suits every other day to pick them up. still piles of trash where the dog and i walk along the lake superior beach every day where the tent commune was. Hopefully for you the people up here that go to FL and TX and AZ for the winter will have the sense to stay home but i wouldnt count on it because most of them are our liberal idiots. But with the numbers exploding up here im sure it will scare some to shelter in this winter.

What id like to see is if you own property in a state that isnt your residence you pay double the property tax rate and if your at a state campground with an out of state plate you pay double the posted rates. Keep some of the people that go both ways home. theres people that spend actually live in campers and wonder around taking advantage of things the local tax payers fund with there property taxes like police protection for one.

I check my vitals every morning too. If I wake I figure they are good.

We have been getting smoke from the fires for weeks but it has abated some. If they can just get that one up around Angle Fire out things should be fine again. Smoke really does a number on my allergies and asthma. It's been allergy pills, eye drops, and a snort off the inhaleer now and then for the last month. It's nothing like having covid of course but pretty annoying.

Out little dictator had a press conference yesterday. She is seriously upset. Says the infection rate is climbing and out of control and we have no spare hospital beds. The health professionals in this area say they aren't seeing what she is seeing. I'm going with the pros, not her and her lap dog health secretary. She is blaming cafes and bars at 25% occupancy for the spread and ignoring all the big box stores that are crawling with people. She has told us all along to just wear our masks and we will be OK. How is this happening?

NM was a big Democrat state when I lived there back in the 80s & 90s. I guess things haven’t changed much.
