I saw that last night and thought about posting it here. But it was quite late so I decided not to bother last night.

I don't see me ever owning an electric vehicle of any sort. I did try an electric chainsaw and that sucker quit working before I got the first tree down and cut up. Nope I don't mean I had to recharge it which I did have to do 3 times on the one tree. I mean it died and hasn't worked since before I finished the one oak tree.

My experiment with electric power for things always powered by gas is over. I need no more first hand experience.

I'm a big fan of li-ion battery powered hand tools but I certainly don't see an electric vehicle in my future. I'm pretty sure our acadia will last us until we can no longer drive. If not there is still a jeep to take it's place.

Didn't that chainsaw have a warranty?

They replaced the first one I got. It never ran period. It was dead and wouldn't work from the day I bought it. The second one sat here for too long before I ever bothered to try it and so when I did finally use it and it failed it was out of warranty.

The gas chainsaw I bought to replace it has been here now a couple years and is still in the box. I just don't do much chainsaw work these days.

I have a stihl battery saw and its impressed me so much that i havent strated a gas saw in 2 years. Thats the main problem with gas saws for me. I dont burn wood so i might need a saw a few times a year and its seems every time i go to start one it fights me. With the battery saw its just pull the trigger and cut. That and it doesnt stink my jeep up so i leave it right in it. It will cut as much wood on a charge as my little stihl gas saw would on a tank. Surely not as much as my bigger saws but as much as this old bod can do at one time before a break anyway. Id say that and the passlode framer are probably the best two tools ive bought. About all my power tools these days are lithium ion. Even when at home a guy doesnt have to drag around extension cords or use an air compressor. I think the key to it all is not to go with the bargains. By stuff like shihl or dewalt and not craftsman or some store brand. Yup they cost more but when i buy a new gun my first concern is quality second is price. But electric cars?? I can guarantee you ill die without ever owning one. Like i said people really get sucked into the fact there clean and dont factor in the polution making that electricity. They say they can go 30 miles without gas and that saves them money but i know its a heck of alot cheaper to heat my house with propane then it is to heat it with electricity and no matter how good battery tech gets you still have to put the amperage into it to get it out and they will never put out more then you put in.

EV's are amazing no doubt. Until a battery condition shows up, low life on a charge or they have to be replaced altogether. Seven to ten K on that. Also a lot of wiring and connections are involved with them, if you think your going to be able to keep them going for 15 years without some major problem, then think again.

I Have  Husky electric chain saw 14 inch and I have never had a problem with mine, love it but it is almost as heavy as the 440 Husky gas powered I have. I also picked up a used like new 19 inch Black and decker push mower battery powered and that thing I really love and it has plenty of power.

And under a near full power mode they pull about 300 to 400 CCA off of those battery's. Ive put a remote amp clamp on one once. Climbing over mountain roads. Flat road it backed off to about 60 to 80. Depending on speed.  But it sure could haul the mail when you punched it. That was impressive.

I have an old 14v Makita drill.  It's a good tool but it seems the battery is bad every time I need it the most.  It's way cheaper to string an extension cord than to buy a new battery for it.  So I think this time it's down for the count.

BTW, my folks used to have  a plug in electric chain saw that was a real work horse.  I think it was a made in the USA Skill.  Not something one can find anymore...

I have a Troybuilt plug in chain saw, never have had any problems with it. Just a few chain replacements.

Gas power for me except my drills & small wood saw.

I’ve gotten on the Walmart handicap schoolers to many times to trust a electric car. I always say you drive out and walk back.

When we moved back to Florida after my wife & I retired, my friend that owns part of the ranch we live on, tried to talk me into buying a electric ATV. No way I told him. I bought a Kawasaki mule instead. I did run out of gas once and called him on my cell phone. He sent his son over with some gas. It it had been electric I’d a needed 2 miles of extension cord.

I don't cut near as much wood as I used to, and handed mu Husky off to my grandson. So I picked up an old Remington plug in electric saw at a garage sale for $5.  Works good for what little I do around here. 
   The oiler wasn't working when I got it. just a cheap plastic oil tank..push on the cap, oiler..  So I take an oil can with me, and occasionally give the bar & chain a drink.
  It has worked well for 5-6 years now..but if it quits, I doubt it owes me anything...

  Electric vehicles..I am not eager to get one, but I just bet there was a time when many an old engineer said..." Diesel engines..Hmmph! I cannot see a time when steam will ever be phased out "!

A while back I was talking with someone about putting a motorcycle engine in an old electric golf cart.  It seems when the batteries fail, they can be had pretty cheap or so I've been told.  Around here they go so slow that one can drive them on the road with no license or registration, just add a low moving vehicle sign on the back...
