as you know ironglow some have selective reading syndrome when they read the bible. Some think becoming a Christian is something that happens down by the crick and is rewarded to you by a pastor. If Jesus came back today most here would want him nailed back to the cross because they'd think he was an ultra liberal. He sure wouldnt be joining them on friday night at the kkk meeting or patting them on the back for spreading hate with other Christian churches. There's a FEW on here that i believe really try to be Christian. Most who claim the title dont even pretend to act like one. It is a valid news story on all the major networks. I think the OP worded the subject a bit indelicately and could have done better using a subject more inline with what the news media used. Still bottom line is it does appear to be accurately descriptive of the ruling handed down.

I believe tho that Today's News would be the proper forum for it not here or Religion forum so I will move it there.

It would be no less a major news story had the higher levels of church leadership of any other group have so pontificated. In fact you are correct some church groups, tho I think mostly smaller spinoffs of larger groups do support such things.

My catholic priest at the church I grew up in raped my cousin and a few of my friends growing up. He ruined their lives. My cousin is 46 years old and still messed up over it. One kid who our priest raped committed suicide over it. One kid who he raped threatened to go to the police so the priest stole money from the collection every week to pay the kid hush money. Oh and to top it all off that same priest raped dozens of kids at another church and when the Catholic church found out about it what did the bishop do? He moved this priest to MY church where he could have a fresh set of victims.

If it happened to more then one why havent they came forward and why isnt that priest facing charges like so many others are??? Add to that like i said i can find you examples of Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist ministers and Jewish rabis that have done the same. Why is it worse when its a catholic to you. Right here in this town a Baptist minister molested 4 kids. He was arrested and went to trial and was found guilty of some reduced charge the lawyer drummed up and got off with probation and disappeared from this area. Scripturally Francis went in direct conflict with the Bible as I referenced in Roman's Chapter one.
Even Cardinals of the Catholic organization are aghast concerning his stance.
As you said and most everyone sees, this "direction change" of this pope Francis is HUGE NEWS, that has sent the hierarchy's collective head spinning.

The queer thing is , homosexuals did not want a marriage deal for decades, they wanted, as did a lot of people who were simple best friends for life,  a simple legal mode to make the other half they most wanted to get it to become legal inheritor, without the legal hassle that can come with a will.

Thanks Charlie. Growing up my cousin and I were best friends, always together hanging out in the woods and going fishing together. Being sexually abused by a priest changed his life forever. He used drugs to medicate the pain and shame that he kept secret all those years. He was in and out of jail because of the drugs. To this day he's still messed up over it. I don't talk to him anymore. I've tried to help him and reach out to him many times but I no longer have a relationship with him.
