higher indeed than any honor men can bestow upon each other." A. W. Tozer
FACING UP TO OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Charles G. Finney once said something that every minister called of God must take to
heart as he faces up to his responsibilities. “If immorality prevails in the land,
the fault is ours in a greater degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit
is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is
responsible.
If the Church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible. If
Satan rules in our halls of legislature, the pulpit is responsible. If politics
becomes so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall
away, the pulpit is responsible. Do not ignore the fact, my dear brethren, but take
it to heart and awake from your slumber.”

“And they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with
boldness” (Acts 4:31). “Boldness” means “outspokenness, frankness, plainness of
speech that conceals nothing and passes over nothing.” It also speaks of “courage,
confidence, fearlessness, especially in the presence of persons of high rank.”
(Some) render it “unfailing, fearless courage.”^2
“Rash preaching disgusts; timid preaching leaves poor souls fast asleep; bold
preaching is the only preaching owned of God” (Rowland Hill).^3
