Slip on work boots vs tie ups.
« on: November 11, 2020, 10:14:48 AM »
I don't care for the lace ups, a real pain in the bum, I tried them and thumbs down. Ive worn slip on's all my life , work or cowboy boots. So my wife went out and bought me a new pair of red wings at tractor supply.
Because November 11 is my birthday. Love em.

Happy birthday, mine was on the 9th but I didn't a pair of boots. I wore slip on for years laying asphalt. It was nice that you could kick 'em off when your socks got close to smoking. Back in those days the asphalt was laid between 310 and 325 degrees. Lace ups are my choice now because they stay on working in mud in the trenches. Not as comfortable but they work.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

May you live to be old and toothless. Oh wait, you already did. Happy birthday! :-*

Only slip on boots I ever had were a pair of cowboy boots; I have to often wear boots in deep snow and tying the top so nothing gets in is a must plus it supports the ankle better in trees or on rip-rap.

At that I wear laced dress or leisure shoes but as often as not slip on using a shoe horn, or my index finger, because I do not like slip on shoes.

I always figured slip ons for level work..tie ups if in very irregular work, climbing rocks, ravines or mud that could suck your boots off..

I wore 16" lace up lineman's boots for quite a few years. After I quit running up and down high line poles for a living I swore I would never own another pair of lace up work boots and haven't. I went to welding and wearing Redwing slip on Irish Setters with crepe soles. Lace ups and little balls of hot steel don't do well together.

When you no longer "poke cows" or whatever you did for a living, day in and day out, as in retire, and SLOW WAY down, so that the mid section fills out in inverse proportion to exercise (less Honey Do's and more naps in between), slip-on BOOTS (above the ankle) become problematic with compression of the diaphragm and the potential to black out from a lack of oxygen while trying to get them over the @#$%&! heel.

I guess my gut isn't quite as large as yours because I have no trouble pulling boots on. It's when I go to take them off that I have trouble. My legs have gotten so long I have to have a boot jack most of the time. Big smili face because of the no emoji feature here.

All jokes aside I do have trouble tying my sneakers. It's hard to get that close to my feet now without finding something to put my foot on.

And sometimes getting up to go pee twice a night, that really sucks.

I sometimes surprise people that I can not only bend and touch the ground, but I can place my palms flat on the ground while doing so...but then, I have short legs.

....Gives ma a natural advantage in that move .
