Noah's ark, a 'stone of stumbling', for some.
« on: November 15, 2020, 12:04:35 AM »
Some more contemporary Christians are troubled by certain miraculous events described in the Bible.  For example, some have trouble with Jonah's sojourn in the belly of a great fish. Others, doubt the crash of Jericho's walls. To some others, the relating of Noah's epic experience, is troubling.
Archaeologists hve made many wonderful 'discoveries" and presented proofs by way of traditional folk legends and ancient stone etchings.
Most Christians understand that the Noahic account is to be taken in faith, but some still "seek a sign"..
Too often, those detractors of the biblical accounts neglect to mention that there are folk legends of a 'great flood', all around the world and with any, many primitive peoples.

Babylonian accounts are very similar to Noah's flood.....

I don't question anything in the Biblical accounts.

How could Noah pull off the Ark thing? He did it like God said do it.

The folks sitting around trying to explain miracles are spending their time  doubting God. They may say their Christian, but their awfully busy trying prove something happened that God says happened.

They should spend more time on self improvement, than investing God's claims.

I may have posted this already.
Maybe not.

21st century people question everything
and don't have any faith in biblical accounts
and need a detailed explanation for everything
because the idea that we have to answer
to God, and the idea of hell and satan and
being damned for all eternity scares them to
the core, and is therefore unacceptable.

RANGER. Modern man believes only in what they can see with their own eyes.

A guy I was talking to years ago  told me that I was more faithful than he was. I asked how that could be?? He said that he believes in God BECAUSE he has heard his voice personally, but I had the faith to believe even though I had not heard his voice. Took me a bit to understand that. Thanks for posting. If we can't do it, it can not be done -- that attitude has been around for a long time.

I am reading an abstract on the Bible for beginning to end, often using Luther' writing but not exclusively, and even in that , while they did not adhere to science behind it, some items such as the walls coming down, they insert possible  ways that science has hinted at.

One thing they did put in it , that I never even though of before, was how long Noah was probably actually in the Ark before landfall.

BE careful about those books changing  Gods words  to fit some mans opinions. A few years ago I read that archaelogists, scientist agreed   that the walls of Jericho did indeed fall down flat, just like the Bible said they did.

I'm  reading several booklets dealing with the end times, they pretty well say the same thing that I have concluded after reading the Bible over the years, I'm in my 8 th reading.

Different booklets about different aspects of the Bible and the end times.
THe 7 hills, Babylon, the 2 bests, and the woman riding the beast agree with what I've concluded for many years. One of my favorites explains why America and the Brits are not found in the final battle. I'll post a link or email addy for you to chk out.

I was glad to see you comment. CHARLIE.

It is so sad that people cannot understand, or refuse to understand..miracles..  Miracles don't need an explanation, and frankly..looking for an explanation only demonstrates one's lack of faith.
Of course, unbelievers doubt manna, the exodus, and worst of all (for them) the resurrection !  Doubters cover all walks of life, and all kinds of people...

Some even try to ascribe the parting of the Red Sea, to an eruption of theisland of Santorini!  ...And evolution..it takes more faith to accept that than it does to accept God's explanation.

"22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;    (1 Cor 1:22,23)

Those lacking spiritual conviction often try to 'reason' miracles out, but that only leads to more confusion..
