DUCK! Here come the ducks!
« on: November 29, 2020, 06:48:21 PM »
Stopped by the local grocery to pick up some small
items, and looked to see if they'd gotten any more
chicken leg quarters in.  That's what I usually buy.
Not very many, but many many ducks! You just
don't see a frozen duck for sale in this region.
Or sheep parts. I don't know if there was a chicken
shortage, or if someone ordered wrong, but they
had ducks out the wazzoo for sale.

Up here there are usually few ducks for sale but this year they had them by the dozen.

I don't think I have ever seen a duck for sale in a store down here. But I've never actually looked.

. . .they had them by the dozen.
The closest grocery store has a row of
freezers in the far wall where the ice cream
and frozen vegetables and tater tots etc.
are displayed.  Just back from it are freezers
where you look down in and slide the glass
back and get your premium ice cream and
egg rolls and tater skin appetizers and such
At the end of that is a roughly 4 foot by
4 foot by 3 foot deep open top freezer where
they usually have hams or turkeys or the like.
This trip, there was more frozen ducks
than I could count.
Seeing one out for sale in this region is
very unusual. Seeing that many at one
time in one place in this neighborhood
is a near event

‘‘Tis the season. Duck are a seasonal item. I have two left in my freezer from aldi’s. I buy a few to 6 a year. They are good but I like chicken better only because there is more meat on a 5# chicken than a 5# duck. Also duck is 2.50 a # and chicken less than a dollar a#.
