Washington cops catch driver using flashlights as headlights

Battery-powered modification was not the brightest idea

This may have not been the brightest idea.

The Washington State Patrol ticketed a driver this week for using flashlights as headlights on their damaged Chevrolet Impala.

Public Information Officer Trooper Rick Johnson tweeted out photos of the car, which was pulled over in North Bend, east of Seattle, around 2 a.m. on Monday.

Johnson told McClatchy News said the duct-taped lights were in violation of safety standards and that the driver was also operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

Interestingly, the sketchy modification makes the Impala slightly resemble a first-generation Chevy Sonic, which featured a motorcycle-inspired exposed headlight design.

This is the result of NINE months of forced Covid suffering.  There is barely any money for food and certainly no money for car repairs (though they still drive "wrecklessly" and uncaring as if they are millionaires).  The Body Shop isn't even open - is it?  They're non-essential - right?  Park the wreck and walk.  There are no jobs to go to anyway.  It would be easier and more considerate to attempt to rob someone within walking distance in a nearby neighborhood so as not put the rest of our lives in jeopardy.

Well the drivers' license had already been suspended, so lack job or financial reasons didn't really matter.  He wasn't supposed to be driving.

There never seem to be any repercussions for those driving without a license, or with a revoked or suspended one, or no auto insurance.  No jail.  Maybe fines, but they already have no money, so that's no deterrent.  Having no valid license or insurance doesn't stop folks from getting behind the wheel - as a "red light" doesn't "stop" the car.  Sure wish we could shoot some of these ID-10-t's when they damage property or hurt someone through their recklessness.

Living in a free country has its perks, and its negative side.
At least in Texas, unlicensed, or suspended license drivers are arrested, or ticketed, with the car impounded, or turned over to a licensed driver.

Our personal safety is up to us personally,  and I "personally" don't want a Gestapo like police dept stomping around picking nits.

This ain't a perfect world, or country,  but with all its problems, its still the best country in the world.

In hard or stressful times, people sometimes become more depressed about what they think they should have, than grateful for what they do have.
