Texas reported more than 15,000 new daily cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, according to reports.

At least 9,028 people were hospitalized across the state, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Last week was the first time the state surpassed more than 9,000 new hospitalizations since a deadly outbreak over the summer.

It came on the same day that Arizona reported more than 12,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus in a single day.

FAST FACTS
Texas has had more than 23,000 COVID-19 related deaths so far, the second-highest in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins.
The U.S. leads the world with the most cases of COVID-19 and deaths from the virus.
The numbers come as the coronavirus is surging across the country, with the U.S. on Tuesday reaching 15 million cases of COVID-19.

Nikki Haley says her sister-in-law died of COVID-19

Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley tweeted that her husband's sister died of coronavirus the day before Thanksgiving.

Haley provided no further details, but the obituary for Rhonda Lee Nelson, 53, said she would be remembered as a singer and piano musician who "ministered to many inside and outside of church."

Many Texas hospitals are like many other hospitals across the country. The more covid cases you have, the more funding they get.

While it may, or may not be true, the recovery data is seldom published.

I was in Texas again today for a little while. Same as last week. People going about their business. No lines to stand waiting your turn, cafes open, and kids in school.

It's supposed to be a hotspot in this county too and we adjoin Texas. I've had reason to be at out our local hospital three times last week. There was hardly anyone there. Halls mostly deserted, and staff standing around visiting and looking bored. Of course parking spaces were abundant too.

Like Dee said, covid means more money.

While it may, or may not be true. . .
It is true.
A friend's nurse wife told me that,
said they get more for covid cases,
and I've since heard it from several
other sources.
If they say Mr. Smith died from old age
and pneumonia, or they say complications
from covid and get more $$, which do
you think will make it on the paperwork?

We had a terrible accident up the state highway last Saturday.  It seems a fellow decided at the last moment, to jam his brakes and turn...A trailing construction truck tried to slip by on the right, but clipped him and drove him into the oncoming lane..for a head-on.

   DRT...probably died of Covid !

If what I'm reading is accurate, even the majoritarian scientists are starting to admit (what they've always known) that mask or no mask, distance or no distance, lock down or no lock down, the virus is gonna spread. Folks are gonna want to point at Texas, call them ignorant red necks that are killing people because they don't follow the science ... but the science and the facts (not always the same) don't support that theory, as hotspots are breaking out in lock down.

Remember when they said there's no way to stop the spread, at best we could try to slow it down so as not to overwhelm the ICUs?
