Christians of all types should support what is right.
« on: December 26, 2020, 07:08:51 AM »
First off...let's keep this on a polite level...not using it for a base to attack, but rather a call for a bit more cooperation and understanding, between those who name Jesus.. ..And please don't "slay the messenger", especially since he has some timely things to say..
There is a Roman Catholic website which tends to have some very fitting views on the news of the day.  Now, I don't agree with a good share of their doctrine, but that doesn't mean they are not worthy of commenting on something.   Here is one video from "The Church Militant".

Disagree if you wish... but do it without being disagreeable.

I believe that JESUS is GOD.
I believe that JESUS instituted plain worship to the 1st century CHRISTIANS.
I believe that worship should be free of any bling and bangles.
I believe that we should partake of both the bread and wine.
I believe that zero money should be spent on fancy trappings when people are going hungry.

I would love to see all the Churches come together as one Church and go strictly by Bible in their worship and benevolence.

I agree with what you stated above, Bugeye. You hit some very important points.  What I am trying to get across, is that in today's 21st century world there seems to be a dividing
of the various peoples of the world.
We are essentially dividing into 2 camps, politically, economically, nationally and in many other ways.  It comes more clear, at least to myself..that those camps represent 2 forces, one aligned with God, the other with evil!
As I said in the OP, I don't agree with a good share of RC doctrine, but the average Joe Catholic out there, feels he/she is committed to God..and I believe that in their heart, they are..so I am only speaking for them !
This is not to say the RC church doesn't have it's own problems, for it does. but that is their internal squabble.  ..And yes, they have some pure apostates, such as some well known politicians.
..But let's consider, it seems the Southern Baptist Convention went through some distress just a few years ago.  ...But that doesn't mean they are all off the rails, since there are many sincere, Godly people in churches of that convention.

I am only suggesting that Those who confess Christ don't need to fight one another, since we have bigger fish to fry (radical Islam, crooked politicians, deep state, world communism, just for starters). Let's not squander our energies against other believers, there are plenty of "God haters" who are much more deserving of our ire !
To wit; this very Vortex group has a serious bone to pick with the overall church, but that is their fight !

I see it more as one camp follows God by the doctrine they grew with, while the other camp worships man as god.

Some blame Satan, Satan sits back and watches man destroy himself by his own evil.
Denominations are destroying themselves.

I see it much that way too Bob!  It seems that this fateful year of 2020, has placed the participants in stark relief. Pretty clear (IMO), it has boiled down to the age old struggle between good and evil !

Evil hangs out in lots of places, and under different disguises.
I'm wondering what "different types" of Christians means.

As to "denominations" its basically an identifier of what specifically that particular church, or "organization" in some cases, places importance in concerning "doctrine".
That "identifier" can save a lot of lookin.

I’m a firm believer that a person who identifies as a democrat cannot be a CHRISTIAN.
They have removed GOD from everything everywhere.

Now if only the rest of us would worship STRICTLY by the Bible.
And take care of the widows and orphans and others who are down on their luck, as we are told to do.
I see too many Churches amassing wealth while people are hungry.

I hope I’m doing enough.

Well, the Bible tells us to judge the sin, not the heart. It also says we'll know'em by their works. But it still doesn't say judge'em.

Every catholic thinks hes right, as does the Lutheran, the Methodist, the Baptist, and so on, and so on. And most think the other is lost, and some likely are.

I know what I believe, why I believe it, and where I got the belief.

Bob is right in the sense that there are too many denominations, including his,  which is really nuthin more than catholic lite. I'm sure if he were deciding which denominations were correct his would be.

As I said before, denominations are helpful in determining good doctrine, verses bad doctrine. It's sad that its way, but it is.

I don't wonder if I'm saved, I wonder why, because I sure don't deserve to be. He said He would, if I would, and I have.

Thanks guys..for a very rational discussion going here, without emotional upset !  So far as different "types" goes, perhaps I should have been more specific.
Of course, Merriam Webster has many "type of types"  ;D, so to speak.  It seems to go on for several pages..
What I meant by 'type' was that some prefer to worship in simplicity, the venue or circumstance being irrelevant.  Others prefer much ritual and elect to do it in elaborate surroundings.
Some prefer (in the US) straight forward English language, while others use other languages, and still others seem to rely upon "tongues".
Yes, I have my opinions on these issues but the key as I see it, is our relationship to our Savior..and I won't judge that of others.
Overall, what I was calling for in the OP, was that we would stop being so harsh with other believers, when we Christians have a far greater nemesis coming from secular/atheist forces, than from fellow believers.

Thanks for the clarification ig. All these "denominations" i.e. "Versions", are nuthin more than "offshoots" of other denominations, and or, organizations.
We know where most come from, and "the word denomination", in most cases is just a longer, more delicate way of saying "version".

The real key is; how far off the path to Salvation did each "denomination/version" get in their efforts to control their congregations and get them to do it their way?

...And a hearty AMEN to everything you said above Dee..  I would just like for Christians to see who our major enemy is..not other believers, so much as that vast body of unbelievers and God haters out there.
This past year of 2020 has brought God's real enemies out of the woodwork as never before, especially now, since they believe they have the "upper hand".  Indeed, we are in a life and death struggle..of good vs evil.. They may even have the upper hand on this earth, but they will never win on the cosmic scale of things.
God rules all creation, and Satan is but a small, bothersome dog, nipping at God's heel.
...The very heel that will crush Satan's head !

I believe this to be well written, timely, and germane to IG's point. The real evil on this earth is man's desire to lord over other men.

Writ large, it looks like secularism and scientism oppressing religion (all religions). It looks like men using religion as an excuse to oppress their neighbors.

Writ small, it looks like sniping and biting at other denominations ... and divisions in the church.

But all of that comes straight from the sin of pride that is in all men's hearts, and simply given opportunity, will seek to put another down in order to lift themselves up.

There is never an appropriate time for divisions in the body of Christ. But, in America today, right now is not the time for divisions between religions (which work out in eternity anyway). Right now is the time for unity between all religious persons against godless secularism and scientism ... the very same which led to the martyrdom of Thomas Becket, as our President notably points out. We will nationally lose our shared religious liberties in the public square if we do not stand for the religious liberties of all.

AMEN! And thank you TN, for your very clear and succinct explanation.
You seem to have come closer to what I was trying to say, than I could for myself!
Our age old enemy licks his evil chops, when he can get those who claim Christ, battling among themselves.
He seems to have in this 21st century, united most or all of the disparate God-hating groups, and they are on the march!
   I believe you struck a vital chord when you said;
" The real evil on this earth is man's desire to lord over other men...... and simply given opportunity, will seek to put another down in order to lift themselves up."
In my many years I have observed this phenomena repeatedly, and though such a rapacious person may make some temporary gains, for the most part they are playing the role of Sisyphus in Greek mythology, trying to climb the hill of succe$$ upon the prostrate bodies of others..but any gains they make, will count as a cipher, on the eternal scale, and very often..by temporal measure.
