Jesus was a Jew...
« on: December 30, 2020, 06:27:33 AM »
To be correct, Jesus was half Jewish...(Jew, being derived from Judea)  Being both God and Man, the man part was Jewish! He was born in Bethlehem, in the heart of Judea.  Then as now, nativity was the seal of citizenship. shucks..the Pharisees in their negativity, may have considered him an "anchor baby". !
I hereby confess..confess to relying on the Bible , as well as historical documents and discoveries.
Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew.  He was persecuted by the Jews, because He is God and brought a new covenant..a new understanding.  He would have liked to have moved the Jews to this new understanding, but they rejected Him an dHis teachings,...most of them anyway.

" O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!"  (Matt 23:37)

  Jesus then included the gentiles;
"2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world."  (1John 2:2)    " "Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:"  (Rom 3:29)

" God so loved the world"..not the Jews only...  Keep in mind, Jesus led a small group of Jews.. a minor band of men, who only became evangelists after his death!  Was he a Jew, well many of his contemporaries, tradesmen, centurions and even other Rabbis, so often referred to him as a "Rabbi" !
He could NOT have been a Palestinian, since there was no Palestine, when He was born in Bethlehem of Judea.  Year 135 AD, emperor Hadrian wrote upon a map.."Palestina"...in the place of Judea!  In recent years, people being exiled from other countries, settled in the west bank area, and searching for credibility, they called it "Palestine".
He was not a Christian, since they were first called "Christians" at Antioch...a dozen years after His crucifixion.
"6 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.   (Acts 11:26)

Jesus was fully God and fully man.

He was sent to the Jews, Gods chosen people and they were given the chance to repent and follow Him as their Messiah. The Jews killed him, with Roman help. And they have paid a terrible price for declaring that Jesus blood would be on their hands and their children’s hands.

But God then opened up salvation to all men who believe on Christ and his atoning work on the cross. He paid the price for all sin for those that repent and believe in Him.

During the tribulation the Jews will be nearly wiped out but will eventually receive Christ as their Messiah.

I agree in full. Good synopsis. If Jesus had been a jew He would have practiced Judaism. He didn't, because He wasn't.

It’s amazing to me that as a sacrifice JESUS was more pure than a newborn lamb.

Isn’t the Torah, the Old Testament??

If so, the Jews knew beforehand exactly how JESUS would appear.
Did Rabbi’s hide a lot of things from the rank and file Jews the way two Churches do today??

And no, JESUS was not a Palestinian, they are just riff-raff, and GODless.

My youngest son went to a catholic ran, and owned school. It was the best school  in the area, and he was taught by catholic nuns, and catholic priests.
It was his environment for 12 years.

Is he now catholic?  Answer: no he is  Baptist by faith.

Jesus was born to Jewish "by faith" parents, but Jesus rejected the "Jewish faith" and brought a new Covenant that offered "Complete Salvation" through Him, the Messiah, making the Jewish faith null, and void.
The Jewish Sanhidrin did not want to relinquish the power over the Jewish "FAITH ", and call Christ a liar, and a fraud. By manipulating Pontius Pilate, they ordered Jesus crucified it save their station in life as the hierarchy of Judaism. They liked the power over the people Judaism gave them,  so they rejected Salvation thru Christ, and kept a now invalidated religion of dead practices, and ceremonial uselessness.

Had Christ bowed to Judaism, and became a jew, the New Testament would have read quite differently.

All things judaism died on the Cross, to be replaced by The Blood of Christ.

You guys seem to be saying that God has broken all of his covenants with Israel and the Jews. That they are no longer his chosen ones and Israel no longer his chosen nation?? I guess then that Jerusalem is no longer his Holy city city?? Then according to what you guys are saying is that one of the most famous and influential Jews in history, GOLDA MEIR, went to hell??  Not going to argue, but I believe when God makes a promise, or covenant, he keeps it and that forever means exactly that, forever. CHARLIE.  :( :(

The Antinomian heresy rejects the 10 commandments as not pertinent today..

The Anglo-Israeli or supercessionist theory rejects Israel's proper place in Christian roots and history.

The Antinomians of today want to consider themselves save Christians who are welcome to sin all they wish, relying upon grace to save them..  Wrong! see (Romans 6:1,2)

The Mormons and Herbert W Armstrong's church, and his successors at "The world Tomorrow", think the people in Israel today are not the descendants of the original 12 tribes.  They believe those tribes migrated first to the UK, and a good portion of them migrated to America..
..Bet some folks of English, Irish, Welsh or Scottish extraction, didn't know they are actually Jewish !   ;)   ;D  :P

Of course Jesus was a Jew..he was circumcised on the 8th day, dedicated as a Jew, and his parents raised him as a Jew. They made the regular pilgrimages to the temple in Jerusalem..and as Jewish custom, at 12 years of age , he disputed with the priests and scholars in the temple. He observed the passover and travelled into Jerusalem for it, eve though He knew He would be crucified during that week.
He could not have been a Christian, simply because the term wasn't even codified before He was crucified.
Just as th ePuritans didn't want to leave the Anglican church, but to "purify" it, and Martin Luther posted his 95 thesis on the door of the Wittenberg cathedral in hopes of reforming the RC Church..Jesus came to the Jews, in an effort to straighten them out..
“Think not that I have come to abolish the Torah and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them,” he says in Matthew 5:17.
However, when the bulk of the Jews refused to listen, He then reached out to the gentiles.
Call it what you wish..Christianity is the extension (New Covenant) of Judaism, which the Jews just haven't latched onto yet.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:12
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

Romans 3:29
Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,

Colossians 3:11
a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.

Acts 28:28
Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”

Galatians 3:8
The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.”

Romans 11:25
For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

I talked with my Pastor and a few others about it this morning and they agreed that When God made covenants with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and said Forever that is exactly what he meant. The Jews have their own covenant with God, they are NOT going to hell for their beliefs. I do not believe that all the Jew in the holocost went to hell, or all of the soldiers who have died fighting the Godless ones in one war after another, and definitelyl Golda Meir. Nothing I've read in the Bible says that all of the covenants were done away with with Jesus death and ressurrection. We and the JEWS have been grafted together, even though our beliefs differ somewhat. A Rabbi in Lou was asked a few years ago in Lou what he would ask Jesus when he meets him, he said I"d say welcome Jesus, are you just now coming, or are you returning?? CHARLIE.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Meaning we gentiles. CHARLIE.

powderman i have to agree with you on this one. He even called the Jews HIS people. Saying hes wasnt a jew is like saying because Martin luther strayed from the catholic church he was no longer a chirstian. Ive seen anti jewish talk so hateful that a man once told me that the holocaust was Gods punishment to the jews. That wasnt a klansman by the way it was a methodist decon! Last i knew the Jews pray to the same God i do. Id have to believe he listens to there prayers too. Just more religious predudiced by people who think they have all the answers and everyone else is wrong. I served with Jewish people that spent more time praying to God in a day then i do in a week. Id have to bet they will be in front of the line ahead of me at the pearly gates.

While some "choose ignorance" as it it comfortable being right in their mind, s"choose ignorance" through being ignorant of scripture.

Jeremiah Chapter 31 verses 31 BEHOLD, the days come, saith the Lord, THAT I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL, AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH.

And verse 32, and verse 33

And verse 34: And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, know the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more.

Now for the New Testament

Matthew Chapter 26 verse 28
Mark Chapter 14 verse 24
Luke Chapter 22 verse 20
1st Corinthians Chapter 11 verse 25.
2nd Corinthians Chapter 3 verse 6

And Hebrews Chapter 7 verse 22, Chapter 8 verses 6 through 13, Chapter  9 verse 15, Chapter 10 verse 14, and Chapter 18 verses 12 through 24.

In regards to golda Meyers' fate.
The Bible teaches us to not judge the sinner, but to judge their sin.
I do not know if Golda Meyier had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, but if she had not, she died lost, and condemned to hell like every other human being on earth.

Now does God have a covenant with Israel as to  where he will set up His new kingdom on his return? Yes! But read your Bible concerning  the "reminent of 144,000 Jewish men" whom will remain to teach the Salvation of Jesus Christ during the Tribulation.
The old covenant still intact with Israel, has nothing to do with the NEW COVENANT OF SALVATION thru Christ.

If you think it does, you are selling Christs' crucifixion way short, and have missed His point.

Sometimes, (many times actually) during a discussion of scripture, folks will disagree, or on rare occasions will say: I did not know that, thanks for pointing that out.
Some ignore, or deny the obvious, and then theres that group that just don't get it, or understand it.
Those are the first to start pinning the word "hate" on the person making the statement, or misconstruing what was actually said, even accusing of outlandish fantasies.

My posts are directed to "truth seekers", and those wanting an in context discussion while "rightfully dividing The Word". Those "rational few" whose pride will allow them to see others views with consideration.

Loyd, I don't think you will "get it ", I've never thought you  would, and have not been disappointed.

You weave "things and issues" into conversations that weren't said, giving credit to those that  did not say, or mention, those things, or issues.
You are a snarky little "short story book", easily read, and always spoiling for  a fight. Just like now.
So, I'll go back to reality, in an effort to avoid you. 8)

Lloyd do not get into a nit-picking argument, Dee did not chastise RC any more than any one else and is as far as strict ethnic history correct.

As I said how God deals with wayward Jews, and what seems to be a lot of god wannabe Christians is up to God, our opinions are just that and have zero affect to God's will except how he looks at us for being -- WELL -- if I were God -- too often in our, including me, thought process.

Jesus obviously was a Jew.  We as Christians, do not celebrate Passover.  However, during His last night alive on earth, Jesus ate the passover meal. He did however, at that meal, institute The Lord's Supper..or communion, launching the New Covenant.

So far as who will get into heaven...I hesitate to judge, but in (John 3:3) He makes it quite clear that only those who are "born again" will enter heaven. I suppose one can debate exactly what "born again" means, but the verse is quite clear.

In (Matthew 7) it is defined that not all who claim His name, will make it either.

   I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

        Y'all take it from there.

The Last Supper according to John makes NO MENTION of it being the "passover feast", but only as Christs' "Last Supper " before His Crucifixion.
If you will do a little studying  you'll discover that the "passover feasts" were eaten HOURS AFTER Christs' crucifixion.
They "were not", combined with the Last Supper. To have done so would have "demeaned" The Last Supper, and stirred in the old covenant, with Christs' New Covenant. That can not be. The whole act of the crucifixion of Christ is to usher in a new, and "destinctly better" path to Salvation.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. (Matt 26:26-29)

Nope... nothing to take back!  No sense arguing for days either! There were no two "last suppers" either. ...But as I said, suit yourself !

Others here can take those references, read them in context, and decide for themselves also.

For sure there weren't 2 Last Suppers, and for sure context sure helps, while generalizations should always be avoided .  8)

Sad thing is even adam and eve and people like Moses are burning in hell.

LLOYD. Not true my friend. You are partly right, they did not go to Heaven or hell, they just died. Go to Revelations ch 20, verses 11-13. It says the dead shall rise and the sea shall give up it's dead, and death and hades gave up their dead. THEN they will all be judged according to what they had done. Then death and hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. It does NOT say they would be brought out of hell. Think abut it?? Why would God send Ada and Eve, Moses, King David, Elijah, Jeremiah and all the rest to hell?? He didn't.
I don't want to argue this but he never sent them to hell. I have no scripture to back this but I believe they went somewhere besides Heaven, and they and the rest of the dead await judgement. CHARLIE.  :o :o

Well, I would agree in part, but Elijah didn't die, nor did Enoch.
BOTH Elijah and Enoch never tasted death, AND DID ascend to Heaven.

Before Christs' sacrifice on the Cross, there was no way for anyone other than those two to get to Heaven.
They could go to "paradise" as the thief on the Cross.

The rich man in Hell asked  Lazarus across the great void for water.

And the scriptures say: Absent from the body, present with the Lord. 2nd Corinthians Chapter 5 verse 8

they tend to not believe any part of that passage in the bible. Selective reading??
The Last Supper according to John makes NO MENTION of it being the "passover feast", but only as Christs' "Last Supper " before His Crucifixion.
If you will do a little studying  you'll discover that the "passover feasts" were eaten HOURS AFTER Christs' crucifixion.
They "were not", combined with the Last Supper. To have done so would have "demeaned" the last supper, and stirred in the old covenant, with the New Covenant. That can't be.

On the night that Jesus was betrayed, He took the bread, He took the cup, and He instituted the commemorative meal for the New Covenant people of God (Matt. 26:26-29)

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. (Matt 26:26-29)

  ...But OK,  suit yourself..

well the bible says the dead await judgment day. Doesnt say it is the day you die. Doesnt say what day that will be.  So i guess technically nobody's in heaven yet. Heck Jesus didnt even go straight to heaven. But Jesus was born a Jew. Raised a Jew, worshiped in jewish temples. Studied the Jewish religion and let the Jews. What he wasnt was a muslim. But a Jew? If it walk, talks and eats like a duck ---------- Its like trying to claim Maritin Luther was never a catholic. He may not have died as one but HE SURELY WAS ONE and was even at death closer to believing in catholic doctrine then 90 percent of the protestants alive today are!
