Insert or not?
« on: January 04, 2003, 01:51:41 AM »
I had some Russian made slugs that I shot out of my contender barrel. I don't know of any sabot slugs in 410.

I took the choke out to shoot them and they weren't that accurate. But the sights I have are a big front bead and a rounded notch rear.

The .410 slug isn't terribly powerful and I would just keep a handful of warmly loaded 45 Colt rounds and unscrew the choke. I know that this takes time and if you happen to jump a bunch you don't have a lot of it.

Hope this helps.

the squirrels may wait longer for the choke to be screwed back in than the hogs for wait till it was unscrewed..remember to breech the gun open when working with the choke!!

Well..I thought it would be easier to breech the gun while replacing/removing the choke than unloading the gun which requires breeching anyway..at the very least be sure hammer is set in middle position..I personally don't like working near the muzzle of a loaded gun..might ask Robert about that one.

What spinafish meant was to make sure your gun was open (safe) before screwing the choke on or off. Jerry J
