  Refinishing a stock on an old Winchester model 67 rifle.  I found some oil deeply infused into the stock, so I got some acetone to rub it out.
  Next, I needed some protective gloves..almost impossible to find in a generous size..  After searching the protective gloves available in 3 stores, I had to settle for last choice.  I really wanted Nutrile gloves, but all they had was XLarge..nothing larger.
  Finally settled for some Wally World gloves..crappy plastic but XLarge, and claiming "loose fit" so I tried them.

  Well they sure weren't loose fit, didn't fit at all..but I could get them part way on after a struggle.  Then, after a few swipes with Acetone on a compactly folded paper towel..the fingers of the gloves were in shreds..

  Why don't hardwares & home stores stock some sizeable gloves?  ...And forget "one size fits all"; ...they lie !

Can't help with the gloves but can make a suggestion about the oils trapped in the wood. 
If your wife will agree, wrap the stock tightly in paper towels and place in the oven on the lowest setting and leave for a short period (one hour or so) to warm the wood and this will draw the oil to the surface. (an electric oven works best but gas can be used if it has a temp setting  150-170 works best}  you will be surprised at the amount of oil that is removed.
The paper towels will absorb the oils then you can finish cleaning with acetone or lacquer thinner.

I've always washed the stock in lacquer thinner.

Yup, then follow up with Scotch Brite pads. Many dents can be steamed out.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I finally did get the oil out.  I tried a couple things that fell flat on me.
  One suggestion was to use a heat gun, warm the spot, and put a pile of kitty litter on the spot , to draw out the oil.  Well, I use kitty litter in my blacksmith shop, to bury hot blades in, so they can gradually cool to "normalize".  ..But I figured that pail full is in my shop, so it would be damp.
     So not having any kitties, I decided to went to Dollar General, and picked up a small bag of the stuff,  Imagine my surprise, when I got home and opened the bag, just to find I had bought nothing but a bag full of fine gravel !!



 So I went to Youtube and consulted Larry Potterfield..... and ended up doing it his way..  That oven & paper towels does sound like a good idea though.

  But I am still bent out of shape over the gloves..but no surprise, I have trouble finding any gloves of adequate size...

Might try talcum powder to draw out the oil - I know gunsmiths use some type of powder to draw off excess oil, might check with Brownells.  Might try dish washing gloves, acetone is very corrosive to plastics.

   I did try using baking soda that way ..but no good..

You can buy Acetone by the gallon, just soak the stock in it.

I bought a quart of acetone, but I doubt I'll ever use that up.  However, the rubbing with an acetone soaked paoer towel did seem to have a drawing effect.  At least, it transferred some crud onto the towel.

I use acetone extensively for a lot of
different things.  A quart would last
me maybe 1- 11/2 projects if I was
stingy with it. If it wasn't so expensive
I'd buy a drum of it.
The stuff Brownell's has is calcium
and it works ok. You make a paste
with acetone and coat the stock
liberally. (Sorry to use the L word)
One thing folks that mess with the
old cosmoline infused stocks to
clean them was the cheap aerosol
oven cleaner. It works 

Whatever you do, go easy and with
caution so as not to crack the stock.
Don't use any heat or anything like that
