Here's my 30/30 I assembled from our classifieds. It's an SB2 receiver, 30/30 ejector barrel, camo synthetic stocks, and a Weaver Kaspa 3-9x4 scope.

That is indeed a good looking rifle.

I once owned a H&R 30-30 and a NEF 30-30 and gave them both to nephews who are still hunting with them.
And the both shot very well.

I bought my .30-30 used off the old site.  The previous owner only used it with a scope so he didn't notice that the front sight was off center to the left.  I've tried tinkering with it to make the front sight strait but it's will have to go to a gunsmith and have a new hole drilled and tapped for the front sight.

I thought about giving up and putting a scope on it but I already installed a target knob rear peep sight.  Around here most deer are taken at less than 100 yards so scoping it really doesn't make sense to me.

If and when the economy picks up, I have a Remington take off front sight and ramp that I plan to have put on.  The sight and ramp add up to the same elevation as the old site but look nicer.  It will take 2 holes to mount it but it will also cover the old sight hole so that's a plus...  I look forward to talking about how it shoots here later this year...

Mine's a Model 158 and it's unbelievably accurate with factory Winchester 150 grain ammo. If I could only have 1 woods rifle, this one would get serious consideration

Just recently found me one in the NL frame with a Williams peep rear sight. it is an ejector which I do not really like but can live with.  Now it just needs shootin'

I need to drag mine out and put the
spring in and test fire it to make sure
it works properly.
Had it in the " service " center when it
was new, and they didn't do much more
than scratch it up.
The one rifle that had the bad barrel that
I posted about on the old GB was fixed
way before things went downhill and
rolled out the door. I imagine it was
probably Brian from the old site, because
it came back as a shooting machine
and a tack driver. It's been an excellent
hunting gun.
I imagine the new spring will put some
zing back into the 30/30

I remember when it gave me pause to take a weapon apart - beyond the minimum required for routine cleaning.  Now, as a rifle carrying and bonafide Handi-haulic, I took the Red Pill from those who had collected their experience here in words, WITH PICTURES, who encouraged us to make these rifles Great.  I walk in their tracks, follow their lead, and DO IT myself, which is SATISFYING INDEED. 

Everything is IMPOSSIBLE the first time.  A Good Example is a resource to be shared.  Invite others...

Did some swapping. These stocks moved to a Tracker II build posted in the shotgun section. Put cinnamon lam stocks on this one and changed out the Weaver scope for a Leupold scope. Pics to follow.

Here’s my 30-30. SB2 receiver, ejector barrel with a Leupold VX-2 1-4x20 scope sitting on top. Amazingly accurate with Winchester 150gr. soft points. My favorite woods gun.

I agree 100 percent. I’ve done it a few times myself. The scope zeroed at 150 yards is about 1 inch high at 100 yards. Fun fun.

Here's the new furniture. The scope is now a Leupold Vari_Xii 3-9x40 that I had sent in for repairs. She shoots factory Remington 170 Core Lokts very well.

Removed the plastic butt plate and installed a Pachmyer 1/2" grind to fit pad.
