Who machines flintlock [patent breech] breech plugs?
« on: March 03, 2004, 04:58:04 AM »
Many vendors offer investment cast breech plugs for flintlocks. Please identify either a machinist who makes them from bar stock or a place where I can obtain machinist's inspection drawings for a patent breech for flintlock.

Which brings up a secondary question:

I understand that British makers such as Nock, Joseph Manton, John Manton, Mortimer. etc. created their own flintlock patent breech systems. Are there significant differences among them?

If yes, which are better -- and WHY?
