Does anybody have the twist rate for the Huntsman barrel? I can't seem to find where I wrote it down.

R_MT,

The twist rate on the 24" Huntsman barrels is 1" in 28". :grin:

Thanks for the reply. Now if they will just get my rifle back to me!!. The Huntsman is what has held it up. They were out for about 3 weeks.

Sounds like you are getting more than a Huntsman barrel fitted? They are probably putting more production time into their new Sidekick barrels that they are trying to launch. :grin:

If this is your first Huntsman, you are going to LOVE it! Mucho fun to shoot and a pleasure to clean. Obviously you already know this,or you wouldn't have added that barrel.
Just make sure you use a good breech plug grease ( I use a small tube of the Knight breech plug grease) and coat threads well, and add some up above the threads. :grin: It sure isn't any fun if the breech plug gets welded in place. :x

You are right. I sent my 270 in for a 45/70, 223 bull barrel and a Huntsman. I have read a lot of posts on the old NEF sight about using anti-sieze with copper in it from an auto parts store.

Wow,..what a great collection of shooters! I've been looking hard at the .223 for possibly yotes. However, I have been lusting for a 45-70 also. I love the look of the amo.....pretty impressive. Are you planning on loading your own?

Have a vintage 50-70 Sharps carbine,but amo is like non-existant.

Been looking around for brass and for now anyway,seems like I will have to some how load my own. Darn

Yeah I went from a devout shotgun only shooter to a lunatic about rifles since October. My slug gun is a 12 Gauge Ultra and It has always shot so impressively that for the price of a Handi 270 I thought I would try a rifle and I AM HOOKED. Bought the Lee Anniversary Kit and Have already upgraded to a Lee 4 hole turret. Have dies for all 3 calibers. Have already got several variations loaded for the 223 and the 45/70. My latest purchase was a STEAL. I bought a Hornady Lock and Load press that was an overstock item at my local gun store for 59.95. Man does it make resizing the 270 brass a breeze. Both Lee's did a good job but the hornady is almost effortless.

Now I am thinking of getting a Chrony to really check my loading progress.

Richard, (having trouble posting,so don't know how this will take)...

I hear ya! I have been much favoring my 12 ga Ultra Deluxe w/lam stock. In fact, I hunted 1st few days of Mich rifle season with it...instead of with my CF 308. :grin: After that, I went to my Huntsman for the rest of the season..... as much lighter to handle/carry.

Like you, going from scattergun to preferring the CF's,...I however went from SG to the BP guns! Just find it such a fun challenge and is like reloading on-the-spot. :grin: That Huntsman seem to love everything I've stuffed down it's throat! I like to think of it as my 50-80. :roll:

The Hornady L&L sounds like a great press. Will have to take a peek at one. Oh,..there were some posts about a "great chrony" and link about it down on the InLine ML Forum. May want to check it out, but you probably already have your eye on the one you want. Anyway,...sounds like you have a GOOD handle on your shooting needs.

My next purchase,I think, is going to be a one of the new Topper Deluxe Classics w/screw in choke. Want to pop a turkey choke in it and give it a whirl for turkey. Hoping one comes in before my drawn season, 4-19-04!

Ya,...was at Jay's a few weeks ago and the White w/ventilated rib,gray lam stock,was STILL there! Couldn't believe it ,and same price at $299.

Gees, stood there looking at it , handling it off and on....for bout 20 min. :roll:

I went there looking for a Topper Deluxe Classic,they were not in though yet,but told they had ordered some from the Shot Show and their price would be $160. Told me to call in a month.

Running out of time,as my Turkey season (got drawn :-D ) is starting 4-19-04......OHhhhh Man. Can't wait! Looks like I will probably be using my Rem 870 Express Turkey though. Unless something shakes loose and I pick up a front stuffer.
