You don't have to explain anything to us. Around these parts, Cruz and Texas is very well liked.

I have one question for you Goldie. If he had stayed home just what do you think he could have done to help the situation? This was an infrastructure problem caused by a state putting too many of it's electrical energy eggs in a green basket. If he had stayed home it would have had the same impact on the situation as him going to Cancun. NONE! All the one's whining and crying about him leaving including your sister and you are just looking for an excuse to whine about a politician. What ever happened to people being prepared for storms? I can remember when people actually thought it was THEIR responsibility to look out for their well being and didn't expect the government to do it all for them.
Only thing I can add is if he would have stayed he wouldn't be in so much hot water with the people from Texas but for some i guess that's to hard to figure out. Who let the state put too much energy eggs in a green basket? Tell the ones families that froze and we'll see their response to you about the whining there. As far as whining about a politician I'm not whining. I know he's an actor. A good one too. Ask Trump

The citizens of Texas let the state put their eggs in that basket but I suppose that is beyond you to be able to see just like the fact that Cruz had nothing to do with the situation and could have done nothing by staying home. Yes, he would have avoided the crying and whining about him leaving but still would not have affected the power situation one iota. It seems a majority of today's population seem to think that they are owed being taken care of totally by the government and shouldn't have to lift a finger to insure that they are perfectly comfortable 100% of the time in any weather conditions as your posts make perfectly clear.

I see you "other guys" see the nonsense in this. Texas got hit with a statewide storm that was underestimated, and wasn't as prepared for mabe as they should have been.
But the citicizens that weren't prepared to take care of THEMSELVES at all, are bawling like a calf hung in a fence. As are their ill informed out of state assistant-whiners who know nuthin above this state, or its Senators.
While Arizona staggered thru their corruption last election, Texas filed a lawsuit, and Cruz volunteered to argue the case.

...and I thought Ted would have been the perfect person to argue the case for Texas in front of the SCOTUS. Its a shame there were enough spineless justices that he didn't get the opportunity to argue the case.  I have no doubt he would have done as good a job at that than anyone could have.

I remember when I was a kid, we lost our power from an ice/snow storm, and were out of power for 6 days. I don't ever recall my parents at the time sitting around complaining that no one was coming to help us.  Certainly not a politician. Since the outage was wide spread and we lived in an area where there were not many people we were on the end of the list. We also understood the power company was doing their best to restore power.
Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.    Wm. Penn

Goldie, Texas has NASA down in Houston. SpaceX in Boca Chica , deep water ports. Lots of industry, some of the best hospitals in this country. Labs, dang good highways, clean and modern cities, I could go on and on.
What does AZ have? Tombstone and a meteor crater, Grand Canyon, am I missing something ?
Heck, NM has more than that.

Power outages of up to a week are a way of life in New Hampshire after certain storms. Most homeowners have generators. Nobody would even think or care where our senators are. I can't understand why people would be pointing the finger at Ted Cruz over power outages, who cares where he takes his family on his own time.

I'm not sure who down there might have got the state so reliant on windmills. If I had to guess it wasnt Ted Cruz. So why is Ted in hot water with the citizens of Texas, for going on vacation?  If he stayed in Texas what was he expected to do that wasn't already being done to help the situation. Again, people need to learn to help themselves, or be more prepared, instead of blaming a senator for not rescuing them.
There was a comedian on the news this morning that asked, "Is Ted Cruz the only man in Texas with a tool kit??"
In other words, Ted couldn't fix the power grid so he did exactly what I would have done, escort my family out of a deep freeze.
Plus, I think most of the naysayers are not from Texas.
And just for giggles, I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary because he was a Constitutionalist.

Blasphemy Bugeye. What's surreal is my wife and me both did also. What really p!!sed me off is when Trump insulted his wife. Like i said i'm just making a statement on what i have read about Texas power problems and people involved. No where did i say the government owes me anything. I merely made a statement as to his appearance  of the perceived outcome. I noticed in another thread it was also brought up apparently by a longtime GBO person and he didn't get near the backlash i recieved. But that's ok I'm the new guy and i stand on my own two feet.

Teds first thought was to protect his wife and family as it should be, it's what real men do. Dems have always had trouble with doing manly things.  CHARLIE.  :o :o

I think you need to check Cruzs' voting record. He has always voted 100% Constitution.
As far as his trip to Cancun? Congress isn't in session, the power may be out in his house, why not go to Cancun on vacation?
And as far as people freezing, and dying, what ever happened to fending for ones self during a winter storm? It ain't Cruzs' fault people live their lives unprepared.
I guess he could have stayed home, and went door to door checking to see if they had needed warnings of a winter storm.  Course Texas is a big state.

There are those that depend on the government to provide every little thing for them and whine and cry when it doesn't happen. There are those that wear big boy britches and provide for themselves and keep their mouths shut while doing so. The former are more numerous than the latter in this day and time.

Ted is a federal employee. Texas' problems are in the hands of  the governor,  state, county, local, and the ERCOT authorities.

Trump gave orders that foreign controls and interferences in our E-grid is verboten.  One of the first things Biden did was rescind thst order! Which suggest this deal may be more than a Black Swan event.

So while Biden spent the first days of the storm  at Camp David  on meds and  napping, Cruz decides to bug out for a few days and becomes a target of negative media optics, whiile Joe plays video games. Meanwhile, attention completely shifts from Cuomo the killer governor and Emmy awardee.

As far as I'm concerned,  if Cruz can do anything to re-secure America's E-grid, even from a Cabana in Cancun, I'm all for it.

I do agree he probably would feel better in that cabana then the cold climate, both political and weather related in Texas. Who wouldn't ?

My post was not directed at you, it was a general statement about ALL the non-Texans who are bad mouthing Ted Cruz.
You have a right to your opinion (even though it's wrong  ;D) just like we all do.
I think anyone who has managed his life so he can afford the plane tickets and hotels can do so without me calling them names.

We should all be berating creepy joe for putting a "lid" on the white house. :)

Just what, exactly, is a US Senator supposed to do about the cold weather in Texas?
Take his tool kit and an oil can and get those windmills turning.

That statement is as stupid as all those liberals who can't wait to GET something on a republican.

So to answer your question, like I said in another thread, only GOD can change the weather, notwithstanding the liberal consensus.

The whole thing about Cruz going to Cancun and how outrageous it was is complete BS. There was absolutely nothing Cruz could have done to help the situation, those decisions and actions/inactions were done by ercot, the puc, doe, epa and a complete and total lack of oversight by ercot and the puc to make sure the backup generation for the wind farms was actually in place and working.

There are a lot of factors in this failure/outages and Cruz has no culpability in it. From my way of thinkin if your all tore up about Cruz going where it's warm, the next time one of your neighbors houses burns down just torch yours so you can share in the misery.

Sheesh!!!

I made a sarcastic remark about Cruz's tool kit.
Then, I said that statement was as stupid as the liberals.
Then, I said only GOD can change the weather.
In other words there was absolutely nothing Cruz could have done.  Austin is controlled by democrats/communists, the white house and congress is controlled by democrats/communists, and creepy joe more or less ignored the TX governor.

I see the  Texas senator is making a big ass out of hisself for his trip to Mexico. The state is freezing, people dying and he takes a trip to Cancun. I'm glad Arizona isn't the only state with rhinos. It doesn't take long to figure them out.
What could he  have done?
He could have put the false , I feel your pain, bs face Democrats do to sucker fools, and then done a tax payer paid for excursion through the worst area , swooning = OH the humanity , Oh woe is me.
The liberal press is still playing general public by making a mountain out of mole hill and they are to naive to realize it.
