I'm in my late 70's and it has been going on for as long as I remember.. When the government got involved in education, it became a part of it.
Make a group of people disagree and fight with one another so that they will not join together.
A military strategy is to divide and conquer.

Yes one of the 10 planks of Karl Marx was, government run public schools. Yes its been going on for quite some time.  I guess now its just becoming more noticeable, because its becoming more radical.   I think back in the 60's and 70's when I was in school it was more subtle, but it was there.
