DUST, on YouTube.
« on: February 25, 2021, 06:29:54 AM »
Has become the new Twilight Zone and The Outer limits combined. With a weekly series of well done, short SciFi movies. Some very good, some very bad, but only for very Adult viewing sometimes. Welcome to the 21st century. This is a good one.

Bob, it's about like the old Analog magazine thing. A lot of short stories sent in for publishing. Only in this case, for viewing. Some of them are excellent, some not so much.

This one from DUST has garnered a lot of popularity among the younger crowd. If you like SciFi, DUST is worth a look. Some of this stuff comes in from all over the world.

Dust. AMC, has just announced they are considering makeing this a series. They are working with the producers. So is the SciFi channel, which really wants it.

I just watched this. Pretty good. Thanks for the post as I would never have bothered to find this on my own and I'll watch more.

O&S , some are good and some aren't. But I was reading about the AMC and the SciFi pending acquisitions. If it happens they are going to extend the episodes up to one hour, includeing all the commercials. Leave the name "Dust" and have a moderater at the first and the last of the episode like was used in the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits. A lot of actors we now know, got thier start in those two shows.

A lot of these short stories come from contributing authors from all around the world. Sorta like the old Analog
magazine was doing. DUST only puts them into videos.

DUST is brought to you by Gunpowder & Sky, a studio that empowers creators to take risks and experiment relentlessly in the pursuit of novel stories and formats. Check out Gunpowder's other brands and their catalogue of horror, music, and comedy films!

DUST is a sci-fi brand that presents thought-provoking visions of the future by searching for the best sci-fi stories from filmmakers, writers, and creators around the world, and bringing them to a platform near you.
Headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York and London, Gunpowder & Sky was founded by Van Toffler and Floris Bauer, in partnership with The Chernin Group and AT&T.

Some of them are a bit to hard to swallow, even for me. It's hard core SciFi no doubt. But they are now getting some major sponsers. Viewership is up 70%.

The SciFi channel has made a deal with Dust, to make it a weekly two hour episode regular. To make up for all the commercials I'm sure.  >:(

On your recommendation, I checked them out.  Some are really good, others are kind of strange and others are so far out there that I wonder what the writers were smoking.  A few were really bad.

Some of the films touched on things that are only theorized.  Back in the bad old days when I worked for computer companies, I read about biological based computing.  It's one of those things that I don't even think they're working on yet but some very smart people have been talking about it for a long time.  The first big problem is the interface from biological to technological and second big problem is life support for biological system.  Even a rodent brain has way more processing power than the most sophisticated CPU you can buy today.  I suppose it's going to be a race to see what's developed first, quantum computing or biological computing.  Both would blow what we're using in the weeds and make things that seem impossible become the next new thing...

The last time I looked, the most powerful CPU available was an AMD 64 core CPU.  I was bored one day so I calculated the cost of building a system around that chip.  I lost interest around $30k...  It would be kick A$$ fast for what we're doing today, but not nearly enough to run an android...
