Maybe there's hope after all

I had to stop for 2 errands yesterday
on the way back, and was fairly pressed
for time. I ended up close to a store I
used to stop at often when I worked
nearby. The lady that used to run the
customer service desk was really fast
and efficient and pleasant to work with.
A couple of years ago, she was ill for
a good while, and after she recovered
she decided to retire. Well the folks
they replaced her with never did worth
10 cents, and seemed like they just
couldn't catch on with time.
Well, I had to stop there to try and
take care of something, either that or
drive about 8 miles farther to a place
I knew would be able to get me handled.
There was a younger fellow there, maybe
late 20's with some colored streaks
in his hair, and I'll admit I had my
doubts.  Surprise surprise, I got right
up to the counter and he got my business
handled really fast and professionally,
and was a really pleasant person.
I'm glad to see that all younger people
don't have their heads up their butt
and can do a job right without diddling
with a cell phone every 20 seconds.

There are some good kids.  I don’t know any, but there are some.

I think a lot of these kids that make themselves look abnormal with crazy hair coloring, tattoos, and piercings, are just striving for attention.  In today's fast paced world with both parents working they don't have much time to spend with their kids, and give them the instruction, confidence, and attention they need and desire.
My daughter-in-law  has talent in drawing pictures, which I think its something you got or you don't have. Like singing, or musical ability.  Anyway last night I had the grandkids, and my Grand Daughter is almost 9 years old. She was telling me how much she likes to draw. I said to her that she will have to get mommy to show her some tips for drawing, since mommy is so good at that kind of thing.  She said mommy doesn't show me. I said I bet if you ask her she would. MY grand daughter said, "Mommy said she doesn't have time". It kind of broke my heart.   There is my son and his wife so caught up in their careers that the kids get neglected. Its so sad and its happening all over America. Mommy and Daddy working hard, so they can buy more "Stuff" all the while the kids are getting tattoos, coloring their hair pink, red, green, and purple, and getting all kinds of piercings, just to grab some attention that they have missed out on getting.   
Back in the day when I was a kid. I never saw kids getting stuff done to their bodies like today.  But back then a large majority of dads were the bread winners, and mom was home with the kids, taking care of the household, and giving the kids much needed attention.

. . . . "Mommy said she doesn't have time". It kind of broke my heart.   There is my son and his wife so caught up in their careers that the kids get neglected. Its so sad and its happening all over America.. . . 

That's truly a crying shame.
Some time back, a girlfriend and I had went
on a cub scout camp out with her son and
his young friend. When it was over, I was
loading things up and the young boy brought
his stuff over to me, and I told him no, you
need to carry your stuff over to your mom's
car. My girlfriend jumped over real quick and
explained that she'd offered for us to carry
the boy back with us. Seems his stepdad
was planning to guzzle beer and watch the
races on television as soon as they could
rush home, and the little boy didn't figure
in mommy's and stepdad's plans for the
rest of the day.
It can be a sad world for kids these days

I bought her a 10/22 and a pistol and thought, hot dog, my baby girl is gonna grow up right.
But she went off to college and roomed with a militant bi-racial girl who turned her away from JESUS, away from us and she quit college after her second year.
She finished high school in three years and was super intelligent, and Ironglow can tell you that she’s drop dead gorgeous..
But she’s thrown her life away.    Y’all pray for her please.

My son and daughter-in-law love their kids, but I think they get so caught up in their work at times they don't realize their kids are being neglected. Thank you Bugeye, and your daughter is in my prayers.

I used to be pretty handy with a drawing pencil if I do say so myself. A lot of people told me the same thing. Neither my son or daughter showed the least bit of interest in drawing and I didn't try to force them. Then along came the first grandson and he started drawing as a little kid so I encouraged him every chance I got. Bought him pencils, drawing tablets, and books. He just turned 37 years old and he is still drawing and is pretty well the equal of any pencil artist's work I have ever seen. I gave it up when I developed e4ssential tremors. All I can do anymore is make a mess.

To my surprise my son returned to college several years ago and got a bachelor's degree in, of all things, art. He is pretty handy with a pencil too. I t just took him nearly forty years to pick one up and use it for something except writing. It's weird that he can draw very well but I can hardly read his writing.

My two oldest great grand daughter's like to draw. It appears the older of the two didn't get the gene but the younger one did. She's a lefty, not quite 10 years old yet, and can draw a straight line like I would using a ruler. I encourage them every chance I get.
