after the crazy things happening
these last few years  ?

I've pared down some of mine
somewhat, and replaced some of
the out of date things, first aid, etc.

I've made several more smaller kits
placed here and there with redundant
items that I could not have to worry
about if I had to ditch and go

I ain't bugging out to anywhere, I got no where to go and don't get around all that well so I'll stand here.

I don't have a get home bag but then I'm rarely more than 3-8 miles from home. I do have guns and ammo with me and in cold weather some warmer clothes. I honestly can't imagine a scenario in my location that would require more than that and my cell phone.

I posted an article today on these forums about a rig a guy fixed up with his Glock and a bunch of magazines, holster, mag holder, light and such in a plastic case sorta like a brief case. Since reading and posting it I have been thinking on how to rig up something like that to take along with me.

We live out in the country away from town and figure it's the safest place to be and don't have a bug out bag. I do have recovery bags in each one of our vehicles that have jumper cables, tow straps, fix a flat, tire plugs, gloves, basic tools, a leatherman, several bottles of water and an air compressor. We also keep extra ammo in either the console or glovebox.

I moved to way more rural, and feel about the same way Bill does. I do have a tow strap, and a jumper box in the pickup.

I have a tow strap and jumper cables but more so to help someone else than for someone to help me. I'd have tools but since I dunno how to use them they'd just be for someone else.

I drive a new vehicle, just passed 10,000 miles on it so am not really concerned about a break down with it.

It would take a major societal collapse that happened suddenly with no warning to cause me any real issues getting home from the very short distances I go from home.

Well even if you don't plan on
"bugging out " you should have
a minimum of emergency supplies
with you, even if you're not straying
that far from home.
I've been prevented from going
home before when there was an
overturned truck between here and
there, and they couldn't determine
whether or not the liquid gurgling
out of the tank was a hazardous
chemical or not. Been blocked in
from this street before when the
laws were hunting for a running
escapee. Anything can happen
to strand you away from your
medicine and clean underwear
no matter where you live or where
you shop. I've been telling some of
my younger relatives to have a
few minimum things such as
emergency water and food set
back, and sure enough a couple of
weeks ago, the only one that had
water was the young lady who
had filled up the water jugs I had
given her along with other containers.
The others had to do without or go
wait in the gimme lines
I'm not going to hide in the closet
and cover my head up with a blanket,
but I don't want to depend on some
national guard troops for a drink of
water or a bite to eat either

There are many roads I can take to get to my house. They can't block them all, ain't that many cops around here. Push come to shove I could even walk in from the road behind me thru the woods. Less than a quarter mile at most and at the closest point my back corner is just across a neighbor's yard from that road.

I'm prepared here at home and just don't stray far enough off to feel a need for a lot of stuff in the truck.

  I have a fair amount of food stored away, although my water comes municipal..my sewerage is mine.   For water I have a creek about 200 yards behind my house and a lake about 1/2 mile away..and i keep a gallon or 2 of bleach, should I decide to use a couple drops per quart for drinking and cooking.
  Kerosene lamps with some modern fuel, a windup radio  and neighbors who I am very familiar with..and who would likely cooperate in any defensive measures... as a community.

I agree, even if you don't ever plan on bugging out you should still have a "get home bag" in your vehicle. Enough water and survival items to get home should worse come to worse and you are forced to ditch your vehicle.

like some others i live where people bug out too. To old to go out in the woods and survive eating roots and berrys and sure arent going to build an igloo for winter. only bags i keep are in my vehicles. There bug back home bags. extra mags a first aid kit syphon hose and and two mre's a knife and a flashlight. All wrapped up in a wool blanket in case its winter.  gun in the glove box and usually another on me and the truck and jeep have two. A handgun and an ar15 pistol in a discrete tennis racket case under the seat. Just a handgun in the challenger. At least so far.

 I had in the past when running a pickup, a car trunk gets disorganized and moved around a lot to have things survive long.

 A knit cap, couple standard size trash bags, a cheap poncho, some rope and a windup flashlight. Didn't stock food in the vehicle.

Well, we have come to the conclusion that except for wild fire, flood, or volcano, we are staying put.  Just no reason to "flee" the mobs when we don't have the energy or health to live in a camp and probably won't be able to get needed meds in that kind of a situation anyway. We live about twenty miles from the nearest town and figure to just watch the mob drive by on the highway. In the case of fire, flood, or volcano we can drive in to Portland and stay with one of our kids. So we just keep a small bag each for that eventuality. Getting meds in Portland is no biggie.

Well as I've found out over the years,
the " calamity " may not necessarily be
a screaming mob with tactical skateboards.
Might well be a tornado, an earthquake,
an overturned truck or derailed train
full of noxious dangerous chemicals.
any number of things that might indefinitely
delay your return home, or necessitate
evacuation.  You never know

I'm 71 years old. I'm pretty beat up from years of a rough job.
I couldn't run anyway, and never felt called to run.
We moved to northwest Texas where there ain't that many folks.
We have family here, and just want to be left alone.
In short? I wouldn't run if I could. What ever is gonna happen, is gonna happen.
We'll just have to wait and see.
