  If you are... steer clear of Bethel and Hillsong music.. and here's why:

To me, that music is vain repetition.   God warned us about that very thing in our praying, just shouting the same thing over and over.
I'm sure he doesn't like 7-11 music either.

I like the old hymns. They have a lot of gospel in them.

Most choruses are vain repetions. Mind numbing, not uplifting or edifying.

  In prefer the old hymns, but some of the contemporary music is where the growth is occurring.  ..Not that I am concerned with growth for growth's sake, but I do feel very burdened by the "great commission".

  If we are to speak to today's younger people, say from 35 down, such music plays a sure part.  The trouble with Bethel and Hillsong, is their doctrine is way off base...and music, whether the old hymns or the contemporary, pounds that mistaken doctrine into receptive psyches.

  One popular number repeatedly has the singers referring to themselves as "I AM"..a direct slap at one of the names God has reserved for Himself (IMO).  (Exodus 3:14)
  it seems to be a reflection of  some of their confused doctrine, which claims people can become gods.

  Some, I don't know which, even deny Jesus' divinity..

  What I am speaking to, is for those who feel the need to incorporate "contemporary" music in their services, be sure the doctrine is correct !

  Here is a song where the singers overuse the set aside term of "I AM".. (go to about 1:40 minutes)

The mormons teach that they will eventually be a god.

   You're "spot on" there, Bugeye.  ..And they are taught that each Mormon man... as a god, will have his own planet, with many wives.  Does that sound something like the ayatollahs teach !

  Oh, BTW..there is something like picking their wives for that planet...and they can pick somebody's wife here, for that deal..

  Perhaps some Mormon can correct me where I got it wrong, if indeed I did..

I would so like to hear some good gospel at Church.   We get maybe one per month.  The rest are 7-11.
I don't want to leave there, we've made so many good friends, and we have a great preacher.  He wears either a 1911 or a Glock in the small of his back. ;D

  It is only a 5 min video..  They are just singing a song where they get to a point of repeatedly singing such slogans as "I AM what you say I AM !"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
  "  And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you."  (Exodus 3:14)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  Only He ..is the great "I AM" !

  We usually have one traditional hymn, and then a couple 7/11s .  I would by far, rather they were all traditional, but I cannot just think of my preferences.

   The streets of America are teeming with spiritually blind people.  There are young people out there who have never darkened the door of a church, and never attended a single Sunday School class.
  If we don't do find a way to reach them with the scriptural truth, our churches will dwindle as the congregation ages,  until they must close their doors.

  I am not so concerned with my individual home church, as with the very ministry of Jesus Christ!  We have a generation of parents now, who have not the slightest idea of what it means to be a Christian.

     If we allow that to continue, the Muslims will succeed by default, Then will not Beelzebub will be in charge of the world ?

You make some good points, but I can't see how even a teenager could like that 7/11 stuff.
I think back to my Baptist days when our song leader picked "He Lives"  You couldn't help but be uplifted.  Even the teens in the congregation sang out. :)

  I know just how you feel, Bugeye..  ..But I have to understand, even grudgingly, that their taste is not what mine is,

  I tend to operate at a handicap where music is concerned, since I do not have much "feeling" for it!  When people talk about "hitting the correct key"...or "finding the proper note", that's all Greek to me, since I can't tell one key or note from another!  ;D

  I do like certain songs, but more often than not, it is because of the lyrics.  Some songs are entertaining, because the words work with the sounds to produce a picture..(e.g. ...How Great Thou Art).   Some secular songs paint such a picture. (e.g. Marty Robbins, "El Paso City).

  About the only music which stirs me primarily for the sound, is martial music..  (e.g. JP Sousa or any of the service branch theme songs.(The Army Goes Rolling Along, Marine Corps Hymn,  Air force..wild blue yonder...)

   So I cannot account for today's young people's tastes in music.

.
     Here's one that stirs me, for both it's sound and words.  Possibly my Scottish heritage has something to do with it...but to me it is a moving piece.
