I wouldn't worry about the "printing presses" being overworked; most people no longer carry wads of currency around. Spending is mostly by card. Osama Obama is one of the few who pay by pallets full of cash.
..But the inflation will still take place, and for those of us who are retired on a fixed income, will see our purchasing power shrink rapidly.
It is happening already! This morning I had to drive off toward the city, so I decided to start the drive with a bit of breakfast on the road. There is a 7/11 store on a corner, just north, about 12 miles up the road, that has a neat little sausage biscuit for a dollar....so I figured that and a cup of Java would do the job.
Imagine my surprise, when I found that the sausage biscuit had jumped 50%..to $1.50 ! Sure 50 cents may not sound like much...but that is a 50% jump... no 5 &10 cent increments.
There is a small coffee shop about 4 miles south of my house. I went there one morning last week with my son and grandson. We each had a coffee and a bagel breakfast sandwich.... $30 I suspect that Last year, it would have been $20 or less.
Of course, with closures and jacked up minimum wages..small diners have been very much financially injured.
..Still, all in all, it is sneaking up on us !
