does it count as a new gun
« on: March 07, 2021, 04:37:25 AM »
if you get it into the safe before the wife sees you bought it. I just picked up a 7mag weatherby vanguard badlands from Buds that i kept my mouth shut about. 3 new guns last month and i though i was pushing the envelope buying another. Wife never said a thing before but i thought i was pushing the limit. She did catch the leupold scope i got in the mail and asked and i said it was for a gun i had a cheap scope on. I think she knows better that i dont have a cheap scope on anything. But she didnt push it.

Never understood the need to hide gun purchases from the wife or to lie to her about gun or gun related purchases. But then we've been together for coming up on 56 years.

The last gun I bought was a NAA Ranger II .22mag.  And my wife encouraged me to buy it.  She thought it was cute.

That said, I seldom desire another gun, and my spouse has never complained when I do buy one.

My wife never cares what I buy.

i have to admit the wife has never said a word. Seen her eyes roll up in her head though. We actually have our own money. I get a retirement and she still works. Social security pays the bills so she does what she wants with her money and i do the same. She likes to travel and i DONT so she goes with here friends every year.  She just made me shake my head though. Spent 1500 bucks on some stationary exercise bike. told here theres two perfectly good bikes in the garage which havent moved in 3 years. But its her money. Truthfully theres so many guns laying around this house that i could buy 10 more tommarow and she wouldnt notice. There in 3 safes in closets under beds and theres one withing 10 feet of you loaded anywhere in this house.

I bought one of those 22lr naas last summer and she saw it and said its so cute!  buy me one. So she has one in a wallet holster in her purse. Then lets not discuss her muddy girl camo lc9.

Just this week I brought two new ones home and showed them to her. The new to me but made in 1977 S&W Model 14 and the brand new S&W Shield EZ 9mm.

The boss lady enjoys shooting and hunting just as much as I do, knows every firearm we have in the house. The odds of sneaking one into the house and her not knowing it's a new one are about as good as me winning the lottery.

Guess that's what I get for marrying a woman whose daddy taught her how to shoot.

I brought a new pistol in late Monday afternoon. I was mumbling around about it and my wife said you better buy it if you want it before someone else does. She even went to the store and held my hand (figuratively speaking) until I started doing the background check and she wandered off. We were at the local farm & ranch store which has very good prices on firearms and used to have on ammo. Like everyone else they are out of ammo now. She met me at the checkout with a big box of cappucicno k-cups that got put on the bill.

As an example of how good the prices there are I had looked at this pistol in two gunshops and I saved $120 over their price by buying local at the feed store.

My old lady and I have been separated going on 8 years now.  When we were together she'd get pissy if I bought any gun stuff she'd find out about.  My solution was to save up cash and bring the gun inside when she was at work.  I was self employed so my work hours were what I set them to be.

She admitted that problem was hers and I was meeting my obligations at home and deserved to have some disposable cash.  Funny thing was I could drop a couple hundred at the tool store and she wouldn't blink.  A box of dies and a 1000 primers and she'd get all bent out of shape.  Sometimes when I was mad at her, I'd go buy some powder or bullets and leave them on the kitchen table for a few hours until I knew she'd seen them.
