Seeing more and more people openly carrying here.
« on: March 07, 2021, 05:26:35 AM »
I have to say I have seen more people carrying their revolvers and pistols openly here in Arizona. It used to be mostly at swap meets and small gathering type events but now it's everywhere. I find it intriguing to say the least. I have carried in the open but mainly when out and about away from people but now it seems it don't matter much. I am not from a big city but rather small rural area but now even at the bigger towns along the Colorado river, ie. Bullhead City, Lake Havasu I see a lot of open carry. These people must know something is happening in this country. And it seems they don't give a crap what others think. I think I'm going to join them more often.  ;)

I would like to see more of it here in Ga.  That way we'd soon know which businesses wanted to sell me their goods.
I would walk away if they post a sign that says "no guns."

I also have a holster for my P-22 that you can't pull the gun out from behind.
It takes a determined jerk straight up.

When I bought it, the guy called it a snatch holster.

Yea I usually carry a 6 shot 38 special in or out of the pants but it sure feels good openly carrying a 45 colt 6 inch. Gives you a feeling like your in the old west again with the heavy iron hanging on ya.  :) :)

About the only time I open carry is when I am deer hunting.  A 6 inch 686 doesn't conceal well.

Yea Billy i guess it wouldn't. I can remember my old dad carrying his Colt on his side when I was a kid and I like being able to do it myself. Problem is some people don't like seeing a gun hung on the side of a person. I think I have reached the point of I really don't give a rats azz if they like it or not. My main thought was some azz hole trying to prove a point about it but so far no main problems. Now I don't know if i would do it in Phoenix or a place like that but here it seems ok. Might offend a few snowbirds or such but the locals and such don't seem to care.

I've only seen a couple here in the
immediate area. One was a older
man and his wife at the grocery
store. He was accorded lots of
room as they were shopping along
as if there was a force field around
them

Good one, thats funny. If I understand right in Texas if you have a CHL then you can legally carry outside or inside. Arizona to carry hidden you have to have a CHL but to carry in plain sight you don't. Kinda doesn't make sense to me.

That's because the people we send
to legislate for us don't have any
understanding of the situations they
make laws for

JMHO- any law abiding citizen should be
able to buy and own and carry whatever
kind of firearms they can afford.
Those that can't be trusted shouldn't be
running loose and free among those who
obey and respect the rule of law

I always open carry when out and about. Mostly I get no reaction from folks and they don't even seem to notice or if they do, just have no issues with it. It is legal here in Alabama and has been I guess all of my life. I remember doing it back in the '60s in down town Anniston.

A few years ago I was in Lowe's open carrying. I was going down the big main aisle the cash registers are on heading back to where the tools and such are. A black man was coming my way from that direction.

He saw the gun, stepped to his left, leaned way over for a better look them immediately took a different aisle at  a 90 degree angle to me and moved quickly away. Never did figure that one out.

Another time in Winn Dixie I had a guy walk up and ask me if I was a security guard. I told him nope, just a legally armed American citizen exercising my right to carry. He kinda shrugged and walked away.

Most folks who acknowledge it ask me what I'm carrying and often strike up a conversation about guns.

Had a black woman one time in Wal-Mart who saw it and came up and walked along right beside me saying out loud, that she was staying with me cuz that way she knew she'd be safe. I reckon so, but admit it was almost as strange a behavior as the black guy in Lowe's tho clearly she had no problem with seeing a white guy armed. I got the impression maybe that black guy did.

Good point. I haven't tried the big box stores here yet but I plan on it. It is a good feeling seeing more people doing it here. I know one thing you don't do is carry out side on a Indian reservation, against the law. They don't like it either. Most people don't seem to mind here but the city's are a different story.

Here in Texas a license to carry gives you the option of concealed or open as long as the business you go to doesn't have a sign prohibiting you from doing so. I prefer concealed over open, reason being that open carry potentially makes you more of target as opposed to concealed where the criminal has no idea who's armed and who's not.

Good example on concealed happened a while back with my brother in law who was headed home from work and had stopped on the way home to gas up his company pickup. He's not allowed to carry while at work and his pistol was at home. While he was fueling up a couple of questionable individuals pulled up to the pumps and were harassing folks there for money for gas. They saw him and started heading his way, he reached around behind his back under his untucked shirt and the two gentleman decided it was time to leave in a big hurry. They didn't have a clue if he was armed or not but assumed he was.

No judgement either way but I carry concealed.

Pennsylvania is a traditional open carry state. There are 2 issues that prevent it from being a “Gold Star” open carry state. First, you must have a permit to open carry in the city of Philadelphia and second, you must have a permit to open carry in a vehicle. However, PA recognizes the permits of all 50 states for open/concealed carry in vehicles.

I had thought of open carrying in Walmart, but then I sure don't want to get permanently trespassed from there because that's where I buy my candy. :)
So I'll stay concealed for the time being.

Just order your "candy" online and have it delivered to your door. Prolly cost you less and save having to make the trip.

I stopped going to Wal-Mart long ago even before the mask thing and haven't been in one since. All the stuff I used to get there I now buy online and have it delivered to my house and get free shipping on all of it.

I haven't been inside a real grocery store since the day Alabama put the mask mandate in place either. I buy meats and many other items at a small store just 3 miles away from me and what they don't carry I order online and again it comes here to my house with free shipping.

The SWANS truck comes by here once a week on his route. It's all frozen food but that's ok, it's all good anyway.

It's ok to open carry in NM, and if your carrying concealed without a license it's a misdemeanor. So far but I'm sure that change, the more blue we become.

New Mexico is an “open carry” state, which means that it's legal for most adults to openly carry guns and other deadly weapons in public without a license. But you do need a license to carry a concealed, loaded gun.

Hmmm, I would be worried about my bite sized snickers and butterfingers melting.
My house faces south so great harm could come to my candy in the summer. :)

Yes its legal to open carry in PA. Except in the republic of Philly, and maybe the republic of Pittsburgh.   I live 4 hours from Philly, and 45 minutes from the Pittsburgh. I have never been in the city of Philly, and I refrain from going to Pittsburgh unless I have to.
