Bushnell Elite 3200 IMO
« on: March 04, 2004, 04:19:50 AM »
What a fine scope for the money. I have been a Leupold nut for
about the last 8 to 10 years. The more i look thru this Bushnell elite
and use it. I'm saying for what. The optics are right there with my
VARI-XII, Lifetime warranty,Rainguard, finger adjustments, no coins needed. I am really happy so far with this scope. Anybody looking
for Leupold Quality with out the price of Leupold. Check out these
Bushnell Elites. If the Rainguard works half as good as they claim,
that will be awesome in fowl weather. The true test will be out hunting,
and i can't wait to use it there. I had both scopes outside today comparing
optics. I see know difference from my Vari-xII. The 3200 Elite is not as clear as my VARI-III. The 4200 might compare with that. I really like
the fast focus piece on the elite 3200 also. So far very happy.
Anybody else like there 3200 and 4200 Bushnell scopes. How good is the rainguard?

The rainguard really works
« Reply #1 on: March 04, 2004, 04:29:43 AM »
I put mine through extreme testing last season through deer and Elk.  My car windows were all fogged up from my wet clothes, and getting in and out of the car to check different spots.  But the Elite held up great.  In really extreme conditions it beaded up one time, but a light shake and it runs off the lens and is not enough to obscure a shot.
....make it count

Thanks for the information. That makes me even more happy. I am
going to get another one real soon.

I just got one for my wife's Wolverine. From what I can tell it's a pretty good scope. It's mounted but hasn't had a trip to the range yet.

Grouse,

You know I think they are excellent scopes; I've had four. Finger adjustments, quick-focus eyepieces, metal on metal click adjustments, RainGuard that really works, and sturdy tubes. They are all assembled by Light Optical, considered to be Japan's finest OEM-- they also make the Weaver Grand Slam Scopes. For the money, it is hard to do better-- I don't think you can.

there junk buy made in the usa that is what was said.don't buy import .

That has not been said, at least by me. I did say that there is "nothing wrong with buy USA," but that's a far cry from dismissing everything else as junk / garbage / whatever. If you are referring to BPI, a 100% Spanish owned company or Traditions guns-- their triggers, warranty, and barrel quality have been universally sub-standard compared to Knight / Thompson, etc., etc. BPI / Traditions sells boxes, and do no testing on American soil. Their poor owner's manuals, adequate bluing, etc., all speak to the lack of attention. That said, it is anybody's choice to make.

With scopes, it is largely an import market-- almost exclusively so, in one form or another. Zeiss Conquests are assembled in the USA (Rochester, NY), Bushnell is an American company (World-Wide Sports Optics), and Leupold neither makes or grinds glass-- they just assemble tubes from sourced components from a variety of sources. The line between a Zeiss Conquest / Bushnell / Leupold from a company ownership and manufacturing point of view is far more subtle.

So, I don't know who you mean by "they," but-- as this thread is concerning the Bushnell Elite 3200, it is as good a scope as can be had (IMO) for the money, and you are buying from an American company on top of that.

Let's let what happens on other sites STAY on other sites. Don't bring it here. Capeesh?

And while here DO NOT start any personal attacks. Pitbull, if you have something to add to the thread please do so. If not please refrain from jumping in. Don't try rehashing old issues that we've resolved in the past.

Randy I tend to agree with you on the bushnell part as I own 2 of them the dusk to dawn and the trophy. and they are  not that costly.

Pitbull,

You are quite welcome to start any thread you want, and it matters little if you have a different opinion from others. Everyone has different perspectives, and are most certainly entitled to that. If you have a question for myself or Graybeard or myself; there are PM's and e-mails for that.

Publicly musing over "who started what" serves no purpose at all. Grouse was sharing his (positive) experience with a Bushnell 3200, little more. Agree / disagree, but at least try to say why. I know who "agrees" with me all the time; that would be exactly no one on this planet!

Pitbull,
You are right about me being big on buying in the U.S.
I have been a leupold nut for years. The rainguard really attracted
me to the bushnell elite. Plus the reviews Randy did on it. DeadCenter
bullets are my favorite bullets hands down. I buy those direct from Canada. Of course you know, they are made there also. From 2 years
ago, i am doing alot of things different. I have a better shooting rest now.
I also have a Chronagraph. I also started shooting loose powder. I have
also tried alot of different bullets now. And have some different one's ordered to try. I just keep going back to PR bullets in Canada. They work the best for me. I also have another scope on order. Atleast it should be.
Feel free to send a PM or email to talk about are differences if any, on ML products. :-)

With all this positive spin on the Elite 3200 I may have to invest in one for my next scope purchase.  I have no guns that need scopes right now but that may change in the near future.

I'll have to check out SWFA's prices compared with the place that I usually shop.  I like to support the sponsors whenever possible.

That's where I shop Golfnut...I didn't realize they were sponsors...When they have something in stock I have it in two days.  Granted they are in PA and I am in NY but I still think that is really good.  That kind of service together with their prices are the reasons that I go back.

Grouse,

I mounted my first 3200 on the Remington last night, after it was mounted and I was comparing it to the other guns and scopes in the cabinet, it really became obvious the eye relief was shorter - but you know what it really didn't concern me.  I guess I have been fortunate I can not ever remember being bitten by a scope.  It feels great and it looks great, it is clear and you are right I really can't tell the difference between the XII & III's on my centerfires and the 3200.  That then created anonther problem I got back on-line and order another 3200 firefly -couldn't pass it up $159, I guess I will take a Trophy off one of the A&H's and put it on one of those.

Plan on shooting the Rem this weekend to tune in the new scope. gosh I hate the fact the weekends are separated by five work days - guess that what I get for flunking retirement....
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....
